UPDATE: After 2 days of liaising with many levels of government, and our local business owners, I am confident to share the following: -Ice hut operators are permitted to rent huts if, and when there is ice. The restrictions from the Province, and Durham Region Health, are as follows: -Ice fishing huts can be rented for day use only -The ice fishing hut must only be used by members of the same household. -Trans...portation to an ice fishing hut must be limited to members of the same household. -There should be no congregating of groups from different households outside the ice fishing hut. -Masks/face coverings must be worn while being transported to the ice fishing hut and while outdoors where physical distancing cannot be maintained. Questions can be directed to the Durham Region Health Department. See more

Stay safe out there.
UPDATE: I just spoke to the Brock Board of Trade. To all our business owners, if you are offering curbside pickup or takeout please email [email protected]. BBOT will be creating a list to be shared. I will also ask our staff to share on the Township website. Please share this post in order to reach as many businesses as possible.

"My thoughts and prayers are with Mayor Bath-Hadden. Our health is our greatest priority. I wish Debbie a speedy recovery".
UPDATE: Brock Township will be sticking up for our residents. This poor planned facility is truly not fair for the homeless community. They do deserve better. An Interim Control By-Law will be enacted. This study will look at things such as proper location, size and development issues. This is on opinions/advice from the Township's solicitor. There are other issues in which look like the Region has not followed correctly such a soul sourcing the project at two and a half times possible competitors price. It is very unfortunate to come to this as our voices have not been heard. Now, Brock is going to have a say. https://www.facebook.com/1801450713499820/posts/2655336261444590/

UPDATE: Today at committee, motions were passed in regards to the crosswalks in Beaverton and Sunderland. First, Sunderland will be getting an additional temporary crossing guard to aid in new protocols at Sunderland Public School, due to COVID-19. In Beaverton, additional staff recommendations were approved. Both the Victoria Ave and Simcoe St crosswalks will be "laddered" with high vis white paint. This is a proven safety measure. In addition, signage will be installed a...t the Victoria crosswalk to direct the children to the proper crossing area as staff noticed half the children not using the crosswalk. By-law staff will also be attending the area to educate and the school will also be educating the students. Lastly, on a trial basis, the crossing guard at Mara Rd (Bob) will be managing both Mara Rd and King St. This was asked by the school principal. Additional measures directly at the school will still be forthcoming in Beaverton. DRPS has also stepped up and have been monitoring much more frequently during before and after school. See more
UPDATE: The Thorah Island sign has finally been installed! Looks great.

UPDATE: I will not take a break. I will fight everyday until our residents concerns are addressed. I will not take a break. I am committed to supporting the thousands of residents that need help right now. This is my job. Councillors are the voice of our constituents. I have been meeting and talking with all levels of government. Our MPP, MP Regional Chair and senior staff at the Region. I am absolutely appalled that our voices at council, and the community, are not being addressed. Democracy, transparency and accountability are all in question. Our concerns are very simple and fair. "hold and pause" to allow proper public consultation and research and studies to show Beaverton as an optimal location. That's completely a fair ask in my opinion... I will not take a break. This is my job.

UPDATE: Councillor Pettingill and I had a wonderful tour of the Foster Hewitt Memorial Community Centre. Arena staff are hard at work putting ice in all of our facilities. The arena looks great and so does the brand new Zamboni! A Canadian tradition! Thanks again to staff for all the hard work.
