Episode 4 is here! In this episode of the London, ON: One of Canada’s Greenest Cities? podcast, we are talking about all things local food! Where is #LdnO...nt at in becoming a sustainable, self-sufficient food system? In this episode, we hear from Mariam Waliji (Director at Urban Roots London) and Mike Bloxam (Fresh Food Coordinator at London Food Bank) and explore topics like food security and urban agriculture, as well as the impacts that climate change and the pandemic have on local food access. Thanks to our guests for their insights and for the work they do in London. It's true: we do need to make better use of citizen advisory committees in London. Thanks to Urban League of London for the ongoing advocacy work on this issue!

Despite the increased stresses of 2020, it continues to be a fulfilling honour to serve the community via the London Food Bank. #LdnOnt #FoodBank #COVID19

Is Doug Ford the new 'Premier Dad'? Municipalities are being micromanaged by the premier's office: saying first-past-the-post has been in place since 1867 is absolutely no reason to rescind ranked ballots. "This is the way it's always been" is the worst argument in any situation. Ranked ballots in the London 2018 election was successful and encouraged more candidates to step forward. Kingston and Cambridge are joining the club in 2022. This reversal can't be allowed to become law. #LdnOnt #onpoli #democracyunderattack #OverlordFord

If you have any unwanted native trees in your yard, this is a fantastic way to give them to someone who wants them! Simply pot up your trees (over 30 cm / 12") and bring them to ReForest London today from 5-7 PM.

We all want a city that is desirable for people to live in, one that encourages social interaction and creativity. We also want fantastic public spaces - such as Victoria Park - that are welcoming and not walled off from the world with skyscrapers. City building and urban design needs to be rooted in developing spaces that will allow people from all walks of life - not just the very wealthy that can afford a highrise condo - to co-mingle. Public parks are not meant to serve ...as backyards for the rich. Friends of Victoria Park, London Ontario | Historic Woodfield

I sure hope "mixed-use development" means storefronts with apartments above. The last thing downtown streets need is the blank walls of parkade: just look at York Street between Wellington & Clarence. Great to see secure bike parking will be included! #LdnOnt #urbandesign #densitydoneright
