Since May 3, 2011, you’ve been waiting to hear when we will choose the Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada. The wait is over. On November 14, 2012, the National Board of Directors will meet to call the start of the 2013 LPC Leadership race, on 5 months’ notice, as required in the LPC Constitution. And on April 14, 2013, in Ottawa, we intend to introduce our Leader to Canadians, a Leader chosen by you.... I know you have a lot of questions. For starters, you probably want to know how to participate. As a member, you already have the chance to vote. We will let you know how and when once the race officially begins. For now, I hope you will join so many in our Party who have helped us sign up over 20,000 Canadians as Supporters. That’s why we’ve launched our 2013 LPC Leadership website, including: Links to the official Supporter sign up page; Information about how and why Canadians should consider signing up for the chance to vote; and; Links to our comprehensive FAQ with information about the rules of the race an important document we will update as new information becomes available. This past weekend in Ottawa, your National Board of Directors met in-person and I wanted to keep you informed about the outcome of our busy meeting.

In January, delegates decided that our Party must prepare an annual strategic plan. I’m pleased to announce this work has begun.

Can you volunteer on Election Day, March 19? On Monday, March 19, voters in Toronto-Danforth will head to the ballot box to elect their next Member of Parliament. Our Liberal candidate Grant Gordon and his team have been pounding the pavement for votes every day for five weeks. And as Grant told Metro Newspaper this week: Something’s happening out there. As people get to know me, their doors are opening wider and wider.... ... But by Election Day, Grant will have done all he can. His job ends and yours begins. After all the calls are made, and doorsteps canvassed, it all comes down to this: How many Liberal voters can we get out to the polls? And will it be more than the other guys? That takes volunteers.
