Last week, I mentioned LED light bulbs. I have (24) 10 watt LED bulbs in my house, a total of 240 watts. If they were 60 watt regular bulbs, that would be 1440 watts. If they were all on for an average of 3 hours per day (some would be less, others more, even more as the days get shorter), that would be 4.32 Kwh compared to 0.72 Kwh for the LEDs. In New Brunswick, we pay approx. 12.5 cents including tax for each Kwh. That is 54 cents for the regular bulbs and 9 cents for the LEDs..... A difference of 45 cents per day for every day that those 24 bulbs are on, for an average of 3 hours. That would be a savings of $164.25 in one year! How many regular bulbs are still in your house? How many hours are they on each day?

Every little bit helps, right? Replacing your regular (incandescent) light bulbs with LED's will help you go from a 40 or 60 watts each, to 9 or 10 watts each, saving you between 30 and 50 watts per bulb! Even more, by replacing 100 watt bulbs with about a 14 watt LED, you're saving 86 watts!

Costco has the Google mini on for $40 right now (best price I've seen yet), if anyone is interested. Regular price is about $80. I just installed a couple in my own home. Check out the video!
