Great to have a plan to get our Province back on track toward recovery following so many months of coping with this pandemic. Unfortunately the unknown variables can impact this plan so let's all stay the course and hopefully we can free up our summer.

In a project years in the making, Conservation North has today released two online interactive maps so that British Columbians can learn about the state of fore...sts in their local areas. See the maps at www.conservationnorth.org. The first, 'Seeing Red', marks the first time that ALL human disturbances to BC’s forests (e.g. industrial-scale logging, road building, mining) have been mapped out using provincial and federal datasets (it should be noted that due to incomplete record keeping prior to 1985, the map cannot be fully accurate before that date). While the majority of these impacts have occurred on public land, this data has not been made available to the public in such an accessible way before. The second map distinguishes forests by age, with an emphasis on productivity. High productivity old growth (dark green), which is where the biggest trees grow, has almost totally been lost. As the map depicts, old forests in this province are truly on their last legs. Both maps are most accurate when viewed on our website. We hope it will be useful to the people of BC in understanding the impacts of unrestrained industrial activity in their own backyards, as well as in identifying the few areas of old forest left that we still have a chance to protect.

We’ve experienced some challenging conditions on #bchwy97 & #bchwy39 over the last couple of days. However, it did provide us the opportunity to try our new Ice... Breaker to cut down on the compact! We still have some work ahead of us, but are pleased with what we achieved on the road today!! We appreciate your patience as we deal with the compact snow. #YRB #IceBreaker #Olosfors #catgrader #Drivetotheconditions See more

This should be of major interest to government as a driver for BC's economic recovery. T he engineering and construction has been completed to Dease Lake. Upgrading to the highest industrial standards in North America over this existing route will be a fraction of the cost of building a new route across northern Alberta and the southern Yukon. The existing route also traverses through some of the richest mineral deposits in BC. Excellent economic opportunities for all First Nation's from Prince George to Alaska. https://www.princegeorgematters.com//condition-of-prince-g

In a word. No. Dr. Henry is not a government appointed employee, and at no risk of being removed, no matter which government is elected.... Dr. Henry was hired into her position during the time of the Liberal government, and has continued through this current one. She is a large part of why British Columbia is one of the leaders in COVID response since the pandemic was called. We are incredibly proud of the work she has done and the advice she has provided to all levels and branches of government. Dr. Henry’s job and the advice she provides are not only critical, they are both safe after October 24. We appreciate her! Please share this post to let everyone know she's not going anywhere!
