Do to gathering restrictions we are requesting anyone who is coming for scallops tomorrow at 11 am in Cole Harbour to please remain in your cars and start the line up at the left side of the building. The line will run across the front of treaty entertainment around the corner and out to the road at the side entrance. I will have the cars pull up one by one and we will verify your band card and number and then you will recieve the scallops. Each October, Mi'kmaq History Month brings together communities, schools, organizations, and individuals in commemoration of Mi'kmaw culture, tradition, and lan...guage. Every year the Mi’kmaq History Month Advisory Committee works to make the month an engaging and educational experience for all. Part of this is the creation of the Mi’kmaq History Month poster, which showcases a significant aspect of our culture, heritage, and language. In this video, Mi’kmaq artist and illustrator Gerald Gloade walks us through the unique method behind the design of the Mi'kmaq History Month Poster. Through Gerald's artistic process, the stories passed down from our ancestors come to life and highlight the importance of our history, culture, and traditions. For more information visit www.mikmaqhistorymonth.ca The Committee would like to acknowledge funding from Support4Culture and the Province of Nova Scotia for this project. The Mi'kmawey Debert Interpretive Trail, located in Debert, Nova Scotia, is a 4.4 km hike through a landscape that was home to our people more than 11,000 years... ago. Picture an ice-age landscape with mastodons, caribou, and giant beavers wandering over the tundra that covered Mi’kma’ki - Imagine communities of people who lived at the base of the Cobequid Mountains for more than a thousand years. The MDCC Interpretive Trail is celebrating its 16th anniversary of being open, and with the change in season there has never been a more appropriate time to hike this rugged trail and take in the beautiful colours of fall. When is your favourite time of year to hike the MDCC Interpretive Trail? For more information, visit www.mikmaweydebert.ca
