Happy New Year! Here's to a good year ahead and lots at puppy kisses. Here's some updates from the puppies who turned one in December. Cinder 17" and 30 lbs Dodger 20" and 46 lbs
The first 16 weeks of a puppies life is a critical socialization period. And with Covid numbers rising it can be difficult to expose your puppy to new experiences. Here are some ideas. And remember some stores allow dogs, like Canadian Tire and Winners!! Just put puppy in a cart to avoid contact with potential dirty floors, until puppy is complete the 3 sets of shots for parvo. And make all other dog exposure, a safe and happy experience. What are some things that you are working on or ideas you have?
Happy birthday to Topazs first litter of puppies. Here's some throw back pictures of when they were little. I'll do some updated pictures a bit later. Enjoy the puppy spam.
We got Topaz (and me) a kitten just before the puppies left. They are best friends and play like this all day long. So funny! Introducing Snoopy!
Sweet update from Ruger. Busy learning to sit and shake a paw. 10 weeks. What a good boy. Great job Robyn
Happy tri Tuesday from Buddy & Ginger in BC and Milly in Calgary. They look so wonderful at their new homes, and we miss them a lot!! Will be 10 weeks tomorrow!!
Palmer and Charlie made it safe to their new homes this afternoon. So glad to think of all the pups in their new homes, getting some extra special love and one on one attention. Enjoy this fun and exhausting puppy stage!! 9 weeks was a blur of sleepless nights, countless cleanups and a million puppy kisses. Be good puppies!!
Having a early morning coffee with these two before we head to the airport. They are headed for Abbotsford where they will meet their new families. Charlie and Palmer! The final 2.
Im just here, hanging out in the puppy bed... sleepy pups after a second supper.
Everyone has their eyes open now! So sweet. Palmer (formally Cricket) was first on day 13. Ginger (formally Pansy) was today on day 17.
This is one full tummy! Lol. And so nice her sister is being a lovely pillow. "Petal" day 16. Alana heres your girl.
Puppies are going to their new homes this week. We send them with a little toy and thought it would be fun if they got to pick their own. We pulled names so to be fair who got to pick in which order.... order of picks was: Buddy, Ginger, Milly, Numa, Charlie, Palmer, and Ruger.
14 days old and jeepers keepers I see some peepers! Numa... (formally known as Petunia)
Puppies did great at the vet yesterday! Vets first thing she said when she saw them... "are they all spoken for, they are beautiful!" Heres a little video of us waiting outside the clinic for our turn. Ruger needed a little break from the crate. They all did so well. Lots of manding for attention. The vet tech comment how the last litter of puppies they saw screamed and cried throughout the exam. These guys were confident and quiet and accepted all the handling with good form. Yay for Puppy Culture!
Some new pictures I took yesterday. Have a busy afternoon here, heading to vet for first shots. Will keep you posted!
New puppy owners! Please check your emails, I've just sent info important for you prior to picking up your puppy!
When it's cold outside, puppies get free run of the kitchen and it kinda looks like this....its a fun kind of crazy. 7 weeks and 5 days.
Yesterday was nail clipping day. I love following puppy culture and introducing life long skills to the puppies. Nail clipping is something many dogs struggle with and by starting early it can be come an easy pleasurable experience for both dog and owners. This is the second time weve done nails already. Every 5 days while they are wee and then once a week. This is Ginger getting her mani/pedi "formally known as Pansy"
Topaz testing liver bites I got for treats for the puppies. She gives them 2 paws up!
Busy Sunday lunch at the milk bar. Day 11. 5 of the 7 are now spoken for.
Puppies had some 1 on 1 play time with Topaz. And walking on the scary tarp. They would still love to nurse, but Topaz isnt letting them to much now. They are learning a lot from their mama about manners and how to play. 7 weeks and 2 days
1st email has been sent out to the family on the top of the list. They have been waiting since April!! And on another happy note, every puppy has doubled their weight since birth. Which is a super healthy sign. Topaz takes longer breaks from the whelping box now, but not for very long or very far away.
I have sent an email to the first 10 families on our waiting list and we will start the process of taking deposits on these puppies tomorrow. If you have filled out a puppy questionnaire and are on our waiting list, please keep you eye on your computer/phone starting tomorrow morning. You do have 24 hrs to respond to the email, but please do so as quickly as possible so the next people on the list can make their puppy choice. Im looking forward to chatting with you soon. Im sorry we dont have 25 puppies available... as soon as these 7 are spoken for I will continue down the list and let you know and you will have the option to remain on the list for next springs litter. Good luck. And remember, I know you might have your heart set on a certain colour or sex, but any of our puppies will be a good choice IMHO.

Puppies are doing so well and gaining so much! Topaz is loving her Mothers Milk Pudding, which is vanilla pudding made with goats milk (easier to digest for dogs and high fat and calcium)and 4 eggs (loaded with protein) Heres Topaz enjoying her treat (gets it 3-4x a day) and heres a quick chart of the puppies weight gain. Both Tad and Bean have pushed over 1 lb. And Willow and Petunia are just about there. Though Petal remains the smallest by far, she is steadily gaining and Im not worried about her at all.
Good morning from Petunia! Look her little nose is already starting to turn brown from the sweet newborn pink.... drunk on love and mamas milk.
After week 3, we focus on the socialization of the puppies and part of that is to indroduce something new to the puppies everyday. Doesn't have to be something big and scary just something different. Yesterday was the famous vibrating noisy ball. They loved it.

Busy morning here on the Ridge. Introducing puppy's to puppy mousse watered down with raw goats milk. It was a hit! And now a nap...
This is "popcorn" sleep. Activated sleep is the more scientific word. It helps the puppies build muscle since they sleep almost 24 hrs a day right now, but need to have muscles to walk once their eyes open in a couple weeks. Its so fun to watch. Pop, pop, twitch... It is also a sign of very healthy and growing puppies. Day 3.
Day 23. Lottsa teeth came through this week! This is Numa. (Formally Petunia)
Brothers make good pillows and blankets... Tad and Bean. Day 3
Puppies are a lot of work, love, and sitting on the floor... So love this stage! Toddlers.

Early morning nap time. I love how Topaz is using Cricket and Petunia for a pillow and everyone is tucked in close and mostly covered. Quiet puppies mean they are warm and full.

Lol. Have a good long weekend everyone!
Part of being a responsible dog breeder is to health test and be sure everything about your dog is good-excellent. I love these xrays we had done of Topaz hips. They are exactly what they should be for a healthy breeding dog. This gives us the reassurance that we can have health/genetic guarantees for our puppies.
This is a really good history and all about these amazing dogs.
Happy Merle Monday from Cricket and Bean. Looks like he's telling her a secret...but he was just trying to suck on her ear... Day 5

How awesome is this!! And her tail sure doesn't slow her down! Often people are drawn to the flashy merle coloured Aussies, but I love the black tri. This girl is very similar markings of Topaz!
