As many Miltonians are aware, the HDCSB has voted against a proposal to allow local schools to fly the Pride flag during the month of June to show support for LTGBTQ+ people in our community. While this disappointing decision represents a missed opportunity to better future generations by teaching our children how the fundamental principles of unconditional love and respect can be used to strengthen a community through promoting inclusivity and normalizing the acceptance of ...diversity, it serves as a reminder to the rest of us of the importance of picking up the mantle by showing our true colours to help make Milton a truly great and welcoming place for everyone to live both now and in the long run. In this spirit, our sign will be showing all of its colours throughout the months of May and June as we light it up like a rainbow to show that all are welcome with open arms both in our clinic and in the community. It’s our hope that when families drive by and children point out our colourful sign that parents take a moment to explain in their own way that we are doing our part to promote inclusion and the importance of community. There are posts all over social media about businesses in towns having sign wars with each other to show their sense of humour. Consider this our challenge to business owners in Milton to do something greater!
