Bracelets versus ribbons: which shows your support in a better way? We support several charities in our area, and every time we go to an event (as performers or as guests) we are given a colored ribbon to wear for the evening, which shows our support and membership in that particular cause. We, admittedly, when the event ends the ribbon is shelved. Until the next event/ribbon is required for our attendance. But recently I found the bracelet pictured above, which was state...d to be made and sold in support of suicide prevention for men, a cause I feel strongly about. I have been wearing it daily since I received it (about six months ago). And I have not removed it. But only recently I began to wonder about the level of support it shows, both in me and for the specific cause. Both of my parents passed away because of cancer (different types), and I feel strongly about both charities. But I see that public support seems to wane if you do not have a personal reason to care. And I see many people who get on the bandwagon for the weekend of charity X, and then don’t think about it again until the following year. If you feel strongly about a cause, find some jewelry that represents it, either for the group or simply for yourself. And wear it as much as you can. A), you feel better about knowing that you support your cause, and B), if the jewelry is eye-catching it can become a topic of conversation, which can allow you to express your feelings about your cause to others. Because communication is the key, in all things. Back in my day(!) it was a good thing to have what was called a quick mind, and to be able to multi-task and still know what you were doing. The key was focus: to have a specific goal(s) in mind, and to do what was required to accomplish it/them. But now, with the speed of everything going around (and in) my head, I feel that I have acquired a behaviour disorder: Learned A.D.D.. That is to say, as a result of consistently looking at my phone and being distracted by a wide... variety of adverts I find my mind wandering over and over...ooh, look, a squirrel! Yep, just like that. Imagine you need to get entertainment for your event, and you search online. Suddenly you are inundated with adverts for all types of entertainment choices, many of whom simply won't be correct. The answer is to focus, not be distracted, and do the research.
