The Christmas Hampers were assembled and delivered. A big thank you to Joanne and Linda who organized the assembling and delivery and followed all the Covid rules. Thanks to the volunteers who were limited in number but accomplished the task. This was the first time we had a drive through pick up of hampers and toys. The consensus seemed to be that it was a better system. Thanks to the many donors of money and toys we were able to fill all the orders.

The Minden Community Food Centre will be closed on Monday, December 28 and Wednesday, December 30th. It will reopen Monday, January 4th. In an emergency please call 705-854-9208 or 705-306-9020

The Community Kitchen is continuing with the offering of home made cookies to go in each of the Christmas Hampers. They look delicious too. More information on hampers soon.

Our Community Kitchen continues to make meals and they were able to process a lot of apples into apple sauce. |We have a freezer almost full of meals for our clients and seniors. They can have applesauce for dessert too. It is great to be able to provide good wholesome food in these troubled times. Our shelves are also well stocked with food to help our clients.

We are very pleased with the donation we received from 19 year old Emily. She is from Uxbridge but was working here for the summer and also started Emilew Designs. She designed t-shirts ,pillows and home decor items. Her big seller was Boshkung Strong t-shirts and also shirts for Halls Lake and Hawk lake. She made a very generous donation to the food bank.

Please get your smile cookies from Tim Horton's to support the Food Bank. They are delicious.

The Food Bank now has children's masks available. If you need masks for children going to school please contact us at 705-286-6838 or705-854-9208.

Tom Burke has been very busy building bird houses and selling them to raise money for the food banks. He came to Minden Community Food Centre to present us with $500. he had raised for us. We are very grateful for all his efforts and those who donated for the bird houses.

We are concerned that there are people in need that are not coming to our food bank. If you know of someone you feel needs help please call us at 705-286- 6838 to see if we can work together to fill the need.

PLEASE WRITE ALL CHEQUES TO MINDEN COMMUNITY FOOD CENTRE.This is now our official name. We started using this name when we moved into our building but it has taken a long time to get it approved. This building gave us the opportunityto be more than a food bank. We have a large storage area so we can now accept skids of food. We are able to share with the other county food banks. Our community kitchen makes it possible to prepare meals for clients and seniors. We have offered cooking classes for school children.

Canoe Fm raised funds through its weekly bingo games. They donated $8,000.00 to the Minden Community Food Centre to purchase bulk food for the food banks in Haliburton County. Joanne and Marilynne worked hard to find the amount of food required. They are shown with part of the order for Minden and the other grouping is for Wilberforce but they have another 3 skids of food to be delivered tomorrow. Thankfully Minden has enough space to accomodate such a project. We are very grateful to the bingo players and Canoe FM for making this possible.

We would like to say a big thank you for all the financial support we have received. Many people, businesses, churches and organizations have stepped up to help. We also appreciate the help from the cottage associations and their members. We have so much to be thankful for. We would like to wish everyone a happy Easter.
