This month represents Brain Injury Awareness. Every year, Mind Forward celebrates survivors who are encouraged to share their life stories through art, discussion, and/or social media. Last year, clients artfully created masks that depicted what living with a brain injury has been like. With the support of Headwaters Acquired Brain Injury Group (HABI), and Mind Forward, these masks were submitted to Ontario Brain Injury Association. Our community has a unique group of individ...uals who have been able to relate and find comfort in each other’s personal stories. This year, through the Unmasking a Brain Injury 2020 Initiative, we were able to bring some of these stories to life. As a result, our peers reconnected and worked together to commemorate the lives of those who have survived an acquired/traumatic brain injury. https://youtu.be/Vgkmz_aZMQM

Nine fish caught and a mini-lobster?!!! Our 8th annual Ice Fishing event at Island Lake in Orangeville was another great success! Twenty-three participants enjoyed a cold, but sunny, fun filled day of ice fishing, with lots of great catches, as well as those stories about the one that got away!. Although the group consisted of mostly avid repeat ice fishing enthusiasts, an excited first timer pulled in the biggest fish! https://www.mindforward.org//02/01/ice-fishing-orangeville/

Art Show Feb 1 to 26 2020, Oakville The Oakville Art Society is hosting an event in February. Art created by Halton Day Service participants will be on display. Mind Forward has an ongoing partnership with the Oakville Art Society. OAS provides our ‘Artistically Yours’ program with instruction from one of their educators. The artwork will be on display for the month of February at their gallery on Bronte Road. The reception is Sunday February 15th.
