Hey-yo, entitled millennial over here! Did you know that by 2025, millennials will make up 75% of the workforce? (Deloitte) I remember reading an article where @gwynethpaltrow spoke about the sense of entitlement her 16 year-old daughter has and how uplifting she found it.... Reading this, it brought me back to the many conversations I’ve been a part of over the years where this same discussion about millennials and gen-z’s being entitled was had, but it was given a negative connotation. Seeing this sense of entitlement tied with words like empowerment, boundaries, and expectations made me realize that yes, we may be entitled, but we’re also helping to design a work environment that is more innovative, inclusive, and prioritizes the employee experience. That is something I’m proud to be a part of, and excited to witness. See more

Oftentimes, the hardest part of checking in with someone is knowing what to say outside of what’s routine. Which is not to say that asking, how are you? or what’s new? isn’t coming from the very best place. It just means that these questions are likely to elicit replies that are just as quick and courteous. If we are really wanting to check-in with those we care about, and find deeper connections, it can be helpful for us to expand the language that we’re using. Which... is why we love these alternative suggestions from Sara Kuburic of the @millennial.therapist. When we ask alternative and/or more focused questions we create more space in our conversations and allow the people we’re asking to pause, and reflect on how they truly feel. Beyond that, it shows that we are invested in enhancing our understanding of what they have going on in their lives, and that we have the time and space to connect and listen. Though the holidays might look different this year, with more virtual get togethers or seeing family and friends from a distance for the first time in a while, we hope you keep this post in mind, because there are a lot of different ways you can check in with those you care about. In order to be successful at work, employee’s require support, guidance and mentorship from their leaders. So how do we ensure our leaders are successful in managing their team? We provide them with clear expectations, training to help meet those expectations and the accountability to follow-through. This results in leaders who focus on positive reinforcement instead of criticism, inspiration instead of fear, and leading by example instead of do as I say, not as I do. If yo...u have any questions, send us a dm or leave them below. Let’s work together to shift those stats. Statistic source: @leadersbeacon

This is your gentle reminder: It’s okay if you’re in need of a day to gather yourself or to press pause for a while. It’s okay if you need time to regroup and to manage your stress.... It’s okay if you need space to prevent yourself from burning out. Remember, you are your biggest advocate. Trust your feelings, check-in with yourself and please don’t ever feel guilty for needing to take a break. See more
