Mindful Path Counselling is apart of the first stage of businesses to re-open in Ontario. As a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) I will continue to take my cues from my respected college, the Ontario Government and Public Health Officials. I have been advised that in-person appointments may resume as of May 19th, 2020. Though phone and video sessions are still recommended as the best option an option against COVID-19. To ens...ure the health and safety of myself, my family and my clients the following measures will be put into place immediately: Updated Procedures: -Screening/Self-Screening (Prior to each appointment you will be sent an email with a questionnaire and you will be asked to read and answer the questions truthfully and honestly. This must be returned to me via email prior to our session. Your response will only be valid for 24 hours so please complete as close to your appointment as possible). If I have not received the screener prior to our appointment I will remind you if you arrive and it has not been completed. You will then need to take the time to read and send back prior to the session commencing; -Upon arrival of your appointment please remain in your vehicle. I will send you a text message when it is safe to come in to ensure I have had time to disinfect from my previous session; -If the weather allows, please take shoes off outside and leave them on the deck for the duration of the session; -First and foremost, upon entry please use the hand sanitizer; -At this time I will not be able to offer coffee/tea; -Should you require Kleenex during our appointment I will provide you will individual sealed packages, if used you may take this home with you; -Reusable water bottles will not be permitted at this time, I will have sealed water bottles to offer; -Please only bring in to our session what is absolutely necessary, lock your vehicle **we have video cameras to monitor any activity in the driveway; -Time will be allotted to sanitize all used surfaces after each session; -Protective Couch covers, to be disinfected after each use; -Door handles inside will be handled by me, outside I will disinfect prior to next session; -I will no longer be accepting cash, payment options that will be accepted> Stripe (online debit/credit card), and e-transfer (payments must be made prior to our session, receipt will be sent at the end of the business day); -You may choose to wear a mask and gloves to our appointment for additional safety precautions; -Bathroom use> please ensure proper handwashing https://www.canada.ca//reduce-spread-c/eng-handwashing.pdf -I will no longer be distributing paper handouts, all homework will be sent via email. As we continue to practice social distancing to mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus you may notice feelings of anxiety, stress, depression and fear. I want you to know this is a normal reaction when we are faced with uncertainty, loss of agency and control over our lives. Like me, I'm sure your worried about your health, a family member and friends. You may notice concerns around work, finances, education, and our lack of ability to participate in community and social act...ivities. I get it, I feel it too. One day you may wake feeling a sense of calm and able to manage your feelings, the next you may find your anxiety worsening and struggle to get out of bed. Please remember to practice self-compassion, kindness, and patience for yourself. This is an extremely stressful time with many unknowns, remember were doing the best we can for ourselves, children, families and community. A few ways to help manage emotions and stay connected can include: 1. Virtual coffee, games, check-ins with family, friends and colleagues. 2. Consider getting involved in an online fitness; Modo Yoga, (mindful sit and yoga), personal training or group training. 3. Join a Care-Mongering group in your area, it feels good to be involved and give back where were able. 4. Host a Netflix party; watch movies and chat with people. 5. Host a House party; interact with friends/family play games and share laughs! 6. Reduce time on social media, especially the news as this can increase and spike our anxiety. Remember you are in control of your thoughts, emotions and behaviours. Let's take this time to slow down, focus on what we can and be kind to ourselves.
