When I saw this quote I spent some time reflecting on what it means. Life is ever-changing; we learn, we adapt, we evolve and through it all we have two choices -- to either grow with these experiences or to step back into our comfort zones. It's easy to want to stay where life is familiar and comfortable. It can help us feel safe and secure because the alternative means stepping into the unknown. ... I don't know about you, but I've never been a fan of uncertainty. I'm a planner. I like knowing what's going to happen. But here's the problem with that: we have no control of our future. Try as we might, the universe has plans for us and there will be times when those plans just don't match what we've imagined. It's great when our plans line up with the universe though, right? I've learned that the best way to be in synchronicity with the universe is to grow with it. When we step back and stay in our comfort zones we are telling ourselves that we are not ready or willing to adapt and evolve. And the problem with that is it can leave us feeling stuck or prevent us from stepping into our truth. When we "grow through what we go through," whether it's good or bad experiences, we become closer to our true divine self. This is why it's important for us to embrace change, continue to learn and nurture ourselves regularly. #MindfulMonday #mindfulness #mindfulliving #mondaymotivation #growth #divineself #alwayslearning #lifelessons #synchronicity #theuniversehasyourback

The Root Chakra (Muladhara Chakra) is located at the base of the spine. When this chakra is balanced we have a sense of feeling secure and stable. The most instinctual of the chakras, the Root is our source of primal energy for survival. The Muladhara chakra is associated with the colour red and the element of earth. An unbalanced Root chakra can result in feeling lethargic, restless, depressed, insecure or disorganized, to name a few. Here are some tips to keep this chakra... balanced: Yoga poses to help balance your Root Chakra: Mountain Pose Warrior poses Child’s Pose Bridge Pose Forward Fold Easy Seated Pose Garland Pose Tree Pose Savasana. Meditation: Spending some time to ground yourself through meditation can help you reconnect. Try this 20 minute guided meditation: https://youtu.be/wiCeTN3Q5N0 Spend time in nature: Go for a walk in the forest, through a park or on a beach. Use this as an opportunity to connect to the earth by walking barefoot or placing your hands on the earth. Essential Oils: Use oils such as sandalwood, ylang-ylang, patchouli or vetiver in your diffuser to help open the root chakra Affirmations: Try simple phrases that will help you feel grounded and secure, such as: I am safe, All is well in my world or The universe has my back. #balancingchakras #chakras #muladharachakra #rootchakra #yoga #yogaposes #yogapractice

Are you wanting to attend in-person yoga classes but feeling uneasy because of Covid-19? Let's talk! I am happy to work with you and give you options to maintain a regular yoga practice, whether it's in a small group or privately. Your health and safety, as well as providing you with a yoga practice that you are comfortable with, is always my top priority. I offer classes in a cosy studio setting with only 4-6 people in a class in order to have proper social distancing. I'm ...also now offering you the opportunity to book one of my classes with only members of your social bubble. As well, I can work with you privately. I offer gentle vinyasa flow, restorative and yin yoga classes. Not sure which practice is right for you? Please don't hesitate to ask me any questions about the type of yoga I teach. I am happy to customize classes to cater to your needs. Comment below, send me a private message or email me at [email protected] to book a class with me.

ANNOUNCEMENT Please be advised the tonight's 6:30pm Yin Yoga class and 8pm Restorative Yoga class are both cancelled (this mama had to move up her daughter's birthday celebration). COVID-19 UPDATE... The Restorative Yoga class at 8pm on Tuesday and the Gentle Yoga Flow class at 8pm on Thursday will be running, as usual, this week. With Durham region moving to the red zone, in-person classes are still permitted to run for now. I will be keeping everyone posted should anything change. Please know that while I have in-person classes I will continue to ensure that the studio is a safe and healthy space for you to practice yoga. Your wellbeing is always my top priority. In the event that Durham region is put into lockdown, my classes will be moved to virtual. I thank everyone for their continued support during this pandemic. Stay healthy, stay safe. Love to you all!
