We often overlook just how smart our smartphones really are. Phones today are more personalized, multi-faceted, and responsive than ever. Not only that, but innovations in automation and artificial intelligence, for example, help to increase the convenience that smartphones offer us. Another piece of technology that smartphones tap into are built-in sensors. These are used by app developers in mobile apps for everything from saving battery life, to detecting phone rotation,... to keeping your phone secure. In total, there are four categories of smartphone sensors: - Core function sensors - Camera/CMOS image sensors - Environmental sensors - Position and motion sensors For mHealth apps in particular, we may see sound files being used to analyze breathing and cough events, or quick response (QR) codes to log mobile patient identification and track admission, discharge, and post-treatment instructions. To take advantage of these capabilities, mHealth app developers must be familiar with the sensors available in smartphones and how to integrate them into healthcare apps. Doing so can bring an elevated experience and richer data to both you and your users. So how do you do it? We share everything you need to know in our latest comprehensive piece:

A lot has changed since the beginning of the pandemic. Video calls are the new hangouts. Work is done in our pyjamas from home. And it doesn’t look like anything is going to change anytime soon. So what does this mean for essential services, like healthcare? Healthcare needs haven’t changed, but healthcare delivery is certainly in a shift with the industry making way for technology that helps patients manage their own healthcare. ... And it’s mostly done through mobile health (mHealth) apps. The push for out-of-office options is more relevant than ever because managing your own health and self-care via mobile health (mHealth) apps is becoming the new norm. With the new norm of mHealth apps, there are increasing health and wellness apps. But not all of them are built the same. Apps like these need to be user friendly and have the option to personalize the app the way the user sees fit. Without this, they may be less inclined to spend time in the app. Find out more about building mHeath apps and how you can improve and scale your own mobile health product to take advantage of the new digital healthcare wave. (That’s here to stay.) Let’s get right to it. Check it out now. https://mindsea.com/mobile-health-apps/
