Watching Thoughts Float Down a Stream How exactly can we learn a new relationship to thoughts? This can be daunting to folks who are new to MBCT because all of... us identify so strongly with what we think. At the same time, it is one of the core skills taught in MBCT. We created this video in 3nd session of Mindful Mood Balance https://mindfulnoggin.com/home/for-your-mental-health/ to provide a gentle illustration of the ways in which we can purposely watch the movement of thinking itself, noting how thoughts arise, rest and pass away. Not getting caught in any particular thought but, as best we can, staying with the flow of the water as thoughts come and go. Try it for yourself and see what you 'think'. See more

In order to create a rich, full, and meaningful life, we need to stop to reflect on what were doing and why were doing it. So its time now to ask yourself: ... Deep down inside, what is important to you? What do you want your life to be about? What sort of person do you want to be? What sort of relationships do you want to build? If you werent struggling with your feelings or avoiding your fears, what would you channel your time and energy into doing? Russ Harris, Happiness Trap

"Healing from racism is a journey that often involves reliving trauma and experiencing feelings of shame, guilt, and anxiety. This journey can be a bumpy ride, ...and before we begin healing, we need to gain an understanding of the role history plays in racial/ethnic myths and stereotypes. In so many ways, to heal from racism, you must re-educate yourself and unlearn the processes of racism. This book can help guide you. The Racial Healing Handbook offers practical tools to help you navigate daily and past experiences of racism, challenge internalized negative messages and privileges, and handle feelings of stress and shame. Youll also learn to develop a profound racial consciousness and conscientiousness, and heal from grief and trauma. Most importantly, youll discover the building blocks to creating a community of healing in a world still filled with racial microaggressions and discrimination."~ Anneliese A. Singh, Ph.D., LPC. "ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Anneliese A. Singh, PhD, LPC, is a professor and associate dean of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the college of education at the University of Georgia. "Avoiding conflict is sometimes the thing to do and sometimes its not the thing to do. There are hills that its not worth it to die on. There are battles th...at arent worth fighting. And then there are those other hills, those other battles, that are worth it. The important thing, when it comes to hills and battles, is that youre making a conscious choice that is consistent with your goals and values. You dont have to fight every battle. But you do have to consciously, mindfully choose which battles you DO fight. If you find yourself fighting or fleeing EVERY battlethats a problem. What it all comes down to is anxiety management. There are a handful of skills that will help you keep yourself together long enough to consciously DECIDE which battles to fight and which hills to go charging up. As usual, the key to deciding which battles to fight is calming down. The most effective warriors and generals know a LOT of targeted relaxation techniques."
