The thing is, as an entrepreneur - there is ALWAYS something to do the list is honestly, endless. So if we don't manage our time properly, we get in the habit of working late, logging in on weekends and sacrificing personal time that once used to be important to us ... It's time to implement a HARD STOP to your workday, every single day But how? 1 Decide on a time, no later than 8pm - this can be 5pm, 6pm or even 8pm but try not to make your hard stop past 8pm. We need time to unwind and take our mind off work before going to bed. 2 Create a prioritized list for the day - add items that NEED to get done that day (urgent + important) and items that would you'd WANT to get done (not urgent + not important) 3 Create an evening schedule - instead of just working because we have nothing else to do, create a few activities or tasks to get done in the night (make dinner, visit a friend, read, workout etc...) and remind yourself that these items are a priority in your life. [SAVE FOR LATER] As a business owner, it's so important to have systems and processes in place that keep you organized not to mention, I'm a one-woman show - so any bit of help counts Here are my go-to programs I use every single day ... Dubsado [ @mydubsado ]: This is my client management tool - it has everything I need for managing clients like contracts, proposals, invoices, scheduling, canned emails, client forms and so much more - I live in this program all day. Asana [ @asana ]: This program has SO much to offer, but I honestly just use it to keep track of my client journey and what step of the process they are at. It also houses all my client information and call notes. Google Drive: An organized Google Drive is a game changer. This is where I share all my client files and anything I need to share with them throughout the project including how I off-board them. Later [ @latermedia ]: I use Later to schedule and plan all my Instagram content - it's great because I can do everything on my desktop and plan my feed ahead of time. Huge time saver! Zoom [ @zoom ]: I do all my calls on Zoom, video specifically. I love connecting with people in person and I think it adds a personalized touch to be on video and chat. Canva [ @canva ]: Canva is an easy tool to jump in and make quick visuals and graphics, especially if you have the premium version, you can add all your brand elements like fonts and colours. Adobe Creative Suite [ @adobe ]: Definitely on the higher price point side of things, but I create all my design elements within the Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign programs. WHAT THEY DON'T TELL YOU ABOUT BEING YOUR OWN BOSS It's definitely easy to sell the "be your own boss" dream, heck it's what sold me! you can travel the world and work from anywhere... make your own schedule and work hours that you want unlimited vacation days work from the comfort of your own home, in your pjs! do the work you want to do only work with aligned clients And while all of that is actually true and they are all possible - the 'be your own boss' sales page, definitely comes with some fine print Long working hours, wearing all the hats, having to learn - pivot and learn again, holding yourself accountable, manage the creative work but also the behind the scenes work, market yourself, imposter syndrome, comparison... just to name a few! Entrepreneurship is a rollercoaster of highs and lows over the last 6 months, I've been doing so much work on myself but also investing in my business to get to a place where I can live the "be your own boss" dream, service my clients and stay sane! THE LIFE I DESIGNED FOR MYSELF Let me tell you a little story... I followed all the rules: went to school, got a job in my field, moved up the corporate ladder and made the most of my 3 weeks vacation ... You can probably see where I'm going with this, because my guess is that you feel the exact same way that I did unmotivated uninspired always asking myself "is this really it" bored resentful towards work and the small paycheque I was counting down the hours of each day just to go home, make dinner and watch Netflix. I was living for the weekends where I was too exhausted to do anything on Friday and by Sunday I was "getting ready for the week ahead" The thing is, YOU DON'T HAVE TO LIVE LIKE THAT you can design a life that fits YOU. & that’s exactly what I did. WHY Because I knew I wanted to live a certain lifestyle and be able to do things when I wanted to do them So what does my life look like now? I work for myself and only take clients that I'm fully aligned with I have a long, slow morning routine that I look forward to I have the ability to meet a friend for lunch or coffee anytime of the day I make my own schedule and only work 4 days a week I work from home I can travel and work from anywhere (pre and post Covid ) I can take as many days off as I'd like My work allows me to be creative I have systems in place to allow the business to grow I'm the happiest I've ever been I've met some incredible entrepreneurs and made new friends I make more money than I did at my corporate job I'm not sharing this to brag or to say that your lifestyle is wrong. I'm sharing this because we all have a different idea of a life that would make us happy. A life that would make us fulfilled.
