Eric Loucks is one of the 2020 recipients of the Ottawa Sports Awards Lifetime Awards and Mayor’s Cup. The Ottawa Sports Awards recognizes the years of commitment and excellence that Eric put into figure skating in Ottawa. He has been with the Minto Skating club since he was a young skater and has continued as a club coach, coaching skaters of all levels.

Programs remain unchanged In light of the recent Government changes and restrictions due to COVID, our Skating Programs have not been affected and we will continue to operate with our existing schedules. Rest assured, we will continue to follow all safety guidelines. Happy Thanksgiving.

Wow what a summer! Thanks to our incredible executive director of skating, Darryl Van Luven and the coaches of the Minto Skating Club for seeing not only our club but all of Ottawa and the surrounding areas figure skaters through the start of COVID 19 pandemic. As the only club with access to ice in the spring, The Minto Skating Club negotiated and applied all provincial, Minto Skating Center and Skate Ontario protocols and procedures to ensure that all figure skaters in th...e area had access to safe, affordable ice to continue their pursuit of excellence in the sport of figure skating. They did so with a level of professionalism and dedication that will reflect well on the Minto Skating Club for years to come. Skate Ontario’s recommended staged approach under the guidance of club coaches was a success! In the spring our Novice level skaters and higher returned to the ice first with strict COVID 19 counter measures in place. Stage 2 saw Star 5 and above join them and by the beginning of our summer session our Star 1-4 skaters were skating around the ice once again. Thanks again to all the hard work of those involved behind the scenes to make this happen and to our parents for their patience and understanding as we worked through this together. *To date there have been no COVID 19 cases related to our club that we are aware of as we continue to follow all recommendations issued by OPH and Skate Ontario.

Belated congratulations to Liz and Al Clark who celebrated 50 years of marriage on August 29th. Liz is a lifetime member of Minto Skating club and has been a skater, judge and long-time board member. Al has been a dedicated behind the scenes supporter of club events and a supporter of Minto Summer Skate both as a volunteer and sponsor (through Beyond the Pale).
