The new residency obligations for the Canadian citizenship will come into effect this Fall. The requirements of being present in Canada for 4 years out of 6 years and 183 days in each one year in the 4 years will no longer be in effect. The new requirement is to be present in Canada 3 years out of 4 years without any requirement to be present 183 days in each one year.

Starting June 6, 2017 three major changes have been introduced into the Express Entry program for Skilled Workers: 1. Applicants with brothers or sisters who are Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents, are living in Canada and are 18 years old; receive 15 additional points in their Express Entry profile 2. Applicants with strong French language proficiency receive additional 15 to 30 points 3. Registration in the Job Bank is no longer required, it is voluntary
