So grateful to the Sunshine Coast Credit Union, for this grant which bought all our new helmets, paid for the round pen upgrades, supported our vaulting coaches in their skill development.

Trust aids performance because it is resilient to fear and enables all of our energy, skills, reflexes, curiosity, and creativity to be focused on the craft. In... short, trusting that a positive outcome is certain enables full focus, which drives actions, which then lead to its realization. Fear poisons performance because it steals attention from the task. When we’re fearful we’re constantly scanning the environment (internally and externally) for potential threats. As a result our attention, a limited resource, is scattered about, often landing on targets that are irrelevant to our performance. Fear, therefore, is the cause of massive attentional waste, which could otherwise be used to strengthen our work. Joyful, fearless performances are possible when we place our trust in our own Truth. You’ll know yours by identifying what really matters and from the peace that this recognition brings you. Peace is the ideal platform from which to create excellence. How do you find yours? If this were your last day what would you do and who would you call? Make these people and actions the center of your life and notice regularly that they are. The rest are only performances, which I hope are now free and fearless ones.... From an essay by my dear friend Shannon Thompson

How we move forward.

I have remained quietly non vocal about my decision to remain open for business, with some changes in operation, implementing social distancing and sanitizing, ...and understanding that not everyone will continue to come for lessons at this time. Because of the number of questions I have had in the last few days, about how Tracy Gray and I have managed this, I have decided to be more publically vocal. Please understand that everyone sees things differently and that our decisions may not work for you. I live with one young person and do not have contact with the elderly or people otherwise at risk for Covid-19. Tracy makes her decisions based on her reality. So, here is my current thinking, based on information recieved directly from CapriCMW, who is and will remain my insurance agent of choice. I got this directly, because I asked directly. 1. HCBC and EC made some recommendations. That is all they are, is recommendations. They must recommend the most cautious path, because of the nature of their organizations and their funding. Remember, the things other people do, generally have nothing to do with you. The same is true for organizations. They have to look out for themselves. 2. HCBC has made it clear that they (and EC) do NOT have the authority to ask people to shut their businesses. They never have had this authority, and their previous communications were (in my opinion) less than transparent in making this clear. It was very easy to read what they wrote and interpret this as, you must close. The communication does NOT say this however. 2. Government/Health Authorities are whom would force closure. 3. Capri says we must follow our Government and -Health Authority requirements, or our insurance may be affected. This is, in fact, the case all the time. If you operate outside the law, your insurance may be affected. In direct communication from Capri, I am assured that provide we are following the Health and Government authorities requirements, my insurance is in force and effect. 4. Stables are listed as essential businesses, Capri is of the opinion that only the animal welfare portion of this matters (so vets, farriers, staff). That is an opinion. Mine is different. 5. Provincial government says non essential business can remain open unless required to close, provided they can provide cleaning, hand sanitizing, and social distancing. They say groups of no more than 10, Coast Physicians say no more than 5, so at my barn we are washing hands, limiting to 5 people in the barn, monitoring social distancing, sanitizing, wearing gloves, some are wearing masks, and looking after each other. I am comfortable with the cleaning, wear gloves, sanitize reins etc, spreading out of lessons, clients, activities we are at right now. Because, I also think that the emotional and mental benefits of coming here, are super important. So, I am and will remain open for business, unless the health authority or government require me to close. If anyone wants more information regarding how we sanitize, organize our schedule, communicate with folks etc, please send me a PM or call me directly. I am happy to talk to you and help problem solve your situation with you. Keep well, wash your hands and look after each other!

It is time for Gwen to find her new dance partner, so i can bring in another youngster. Coming 6, and ready for the FEI 6 year old tests, Gwen is amateur and YR friendly. Sweet, sensible, and three great paces, with green, clean lead changes. By Connassieur, out of a Raffaello mare, she can jump too! UTD x-rays, clean and available. PM for price and jumping video.

Not just dressage facilities. Any well run barn manages all these things.

This...for all my Horse Girls

Mise en Place Equestrian 01.05.2020

This crew .... just wanna say that after basking in the afterglow of a competition weekend - these are the take aways I wanna share with you all 1. Say YES to... teamwork (especially a team that involves a horse) it’s one of THE most heartwarming experiences to witness, and provides so many layers of rich learning that last much longer than the time invested. I gotta say, Witnessing kids ages 6-14 genuinely supporting each other, cheering each other on, in each other’s corners, speaking kind, heartfelt words to each other, amplified courage and acted as a breeding ground for compassion. 2. Competition has its place - it doesn’t always bring out the best in humans... except when it does. It sure did for this crew of dynamic kiddos ! There is something about digging deep, showing up as ready as you can, and leaving it all on the table (or on the horse in this case...) that skyrockets confidence and exponentially changes our belief in ourself. 3. Interact with horses when you can - Our Horses offered up such RICH lessons in being both tough and tender...Sometimes at the same time. The patience and willingness this mare offered us as our kids did handstands and cartwheels off her back to loud music and crowds clapping is enough to create some instability in the most solid and grounded of species.... but horses? Well, it was a privilege to witness moments when indeed they are other worldly. Gifts from God, reminding us moment by moment that we are seen, loved and lovable. There are many moments from this weekend that I’d love for y’all to see, but these 2 are my fave. Our team - diverse and united Kids & horses - simple moments of tenderness and awe Grateful to be holding space for such growth and magic to occur Thankyou SunCoast Vaulters, families, helpers and Ofcourse Horses !!
