Good day Members With the evenings being longer and the better weather upon us. I want everyone to remember to check the calendar before coming up to the club. We do not have competitive events happenning, but some disciplines are now conducting small socially distanced training session that meet the BC Health Orders for Non Contact Sports.... Check the calendar for training sessions, as they do reach the maximum capacity of 10 people on a range, and no one is allowed beyond that number. Be safe, stay healthy, and hopefully competitve shooting events will resume later this summer.

When you think of a sterotypical hunter-Does Taina fit the mold? This photo is not Photoshopped! Keith Winzer, who ranches NE of Maple Creek, SK, came across this herd of antelope. Keith figures there were 800+ animals. If yo...u are familiar with antelope, they do not jump over fences, but scramble under the lowest wire. With the latest snowfall and drifting, most of the fence line would be covered. Be careful on the roads, you never know what might meet you over the next rise! Photo credit Keith Winzer See more

Good afternoon Members The 2021 Calendar is now available to the membership for viewing on the club website. We approached the Calendar for 2021 as we do in any other year. ... No one has a crystal ball and can forecast what further effects Covid 19 will have our facility. However it is better to be prepared as a normal year and make changes as they become necessary than not to plan and try and schedule on the fly. Matches took precedent over discipline shoots in all cases as there is more planning involved in these events. Public Sight in is for the month of September only, with days available to the public (Saturday and Monday). Until we get the all clear, All covid 19 protocols now in place will remain until we are told otherwise. Hopefully we can see a return to normal at some point. The calendar has already been vetted by your discipline chairs and this is the final version. Any questions, please refer them to your discipline chairs and they can forward them to the board. Regards MDRGC Board of Directors

A message from your President October 19 2020 To all the Members of Mission and District Rod and Gun Club:... I trust that you and your families are safe and in good health through these unprecedented times. The Covid-19 pandemic has thrown MDRGC a curve ball where MDRGC has had to modify its operations and events for the safety of all members and staff while at the same time conforming to Provincial Health guidelines. One of the changes will be the Annual General Meeting. The size of our membership has presented some logistical challenges through these times. The Board of Directors and Trustees have contacted the Registrar of Societies to get advice as to how to conduct the AGM and or postpone the AGM. The Registrar has confirmed that MDRGC is able to postpone the meeting with proper notice to the Registrar of Societies. In addition, while the bylaws of the MDRGC are silent on electronic meetings and voting, Section 83 of the act allows societies to conduct meetings and votes by electronic means. The Registrar advises that the act takes precedence over the bylaws, and therefore permits electronic meetings and voting for all societies, including MDRGC. With the increasing number of daily Covid cases on the rise, Provincial cap on gatherings as well as the limited space available to hold an AGM with social distancing, the Board of Directors have decided to reschedule the AGM to February 1st 2021 in hopes that the current pandemic subsides to where we are able to hold an AGM. We will have to notify the Registrar of Societies in November of this move. In addition, Nominations for the Executive and Trustee positions will be extended to and will close on December 7th 2020 at 1900 hrs. After this date the Nominations Chair will send the membership an email with a list of nominees and a ballot which then can be completed and emailed back to the Nominations Chair or printed off and dropped off at the clubhouse in a ballot box if they so choose. Those that do not have the ability to receive or do so electronically may come to the clubhouse to receive a ballot upon showing proof of membership and cast their vote. All physical and electronic ballots will be checked against a membership list for validity. You may only vote once. Respectfully Tex P. Mahler

Anyone know what the current provincial government means by "strengthen regulation of shooting ranges and close regulatory gaps" Who was aware that this was part of the current wish list?

UPDATE: Septembers winners have been notified, and we have 9 days left in October. Still some great prizes for October, so please take the time to renew early and have a chance to win win win. IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL MISSION AND DISTRICT ROD & GUN CLUB MEMBERS ... With September coming quickly, Members will start to take steps towards renewing their MDRGC memberships. The administration staff tend to experience a very heavy work load as the year counts down to December 31st . Unfortunately, many MDRGC Members leave their membership renewals until the last day. This is not new, and has been very common practice for years. Well, the MDRGC Executive has come up with an idea that will hopefully encourage everyone into getting their renewals completed a lot sooner this year. To encourage members to renew sooner than later, we are going to offer up eligibility for prizes for members that renews prior to the end of the year. Beginning in September, everyone who renews their MDRGC membership will be eligible to have their names placed in a drum for a monthly draw. There will be a draw at the end of September, October, November and December. Two prizes will be awarded each month. The earlier you renew, the nicer the prizes! So, what are the prizes you might ask.....why should I renew early? Each month two names will be drawn from the list of members who have renewed in that month. first Prize, a complimentary MDRGC membership. That’s right folks, your paid membership fee will be refunded to you. Second prize is a gift card of appreciable value and well worth the effort to renew early. Please take a look below! The earlier you renew, the greater the prize! October $150 gift Certificate, Free Membership November $100 Gift Certificate, Free Membership December $ 50 Gift Certificate, Free Membership There you have it! Two great prizes, awarded each month, for MDRGC members that take the steps to renew early this year. A reminder on two points! You cannot start renewals until September 1st. The system will not accept your renewal prior to September 1st 2020 You are able to renew on line. Great progress has been made on website and the data base, and the on-line renewal is functioning. Lastly, the Executive of the MDRGC would like to thank every single member for their commitment through a very challenging 2020. We are not through the year yet, and it is likely more challenges will come before us but together, we will continue to ensure the MDGRC is found to be a high-quality Outdoor Sportsman’s Club. FROM THE CSSA NEWSLETTER! Trudeau Government Defines the Firearms, they Will Ban Next! The Trudeau government’s next gun ban will target the best-selling semi-automatic rifles in Canada.... So says Member of Parliament Joël Lightbound, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness. In his response to ePetition e-2341, Joël Lightbound reiterated the Liberal government’s three criteria for banning and confiscating firearms from federally-licensed, RCMP-vetted firearm owners: [i] have semi-automatic action with sustain rapid-fire capability (tactical/military design with large magazine capacity) modern design; present in large volumes in the Canadian market. What are the 10 (or 20 or 50) best-selling semi-automatic rifles in Canada? You know? The high-capacity 5-shot ones. (before you write a letter, that was sarcasm.) They’ll be listed on the next gun ban by Order in Council. We know Mr. Lightbound is a new M.P. and a relatively young man (32) but he is an educated person with a law degree from McGill University, the great bastion of Quebec liberalism. An intelligent man like Lightbound (or even a total fool) must see the gaping hole in the master plan: What about illegal guns in the hands of gangs and violent criminals? The Liberal government has no plan to confiscate any of those guns from the criminals who own them and seem perfectly content to practice catch-and-release law enforcement, yet Joël Lightbound has the audacity to claim: Canadians deserve to live in a society where they can feel safe and secure from gun violence. We agree. Canadians absolutely deserve to feel safe in their homes and in their communities. Canadians are rightfully afraid of dangerous criminals like those who violate firearm prohibition orders.[ii] The best way to keep Canadians safe is to disarm those members of society most likely to commit violent acts, but that's does not appear to be the Liberal government's plan. The government ignores violent offenders and its plan does not include taking illegal guns away from dangerous criminals. Instead the Liberal government will ban and confiscate (from licensed, RCMP-vetted firearm owners only), any firearm with: a semi-automatic action that is of modern design and is present in large volumes in the Canadian market. Is it any wonder Canada’s licensed gun owners get so frustrated? Sources: [i] https://petitions.ourcommons.ca/en/Petition/Details [ii] https://christopherdiarmani.com/firearm-prohibition-order-/
