Well folks, winter is finally here. Some advice from us here at Mission city motors...stay warm. Make sure to turn your wipers off when you park and clear your windshield before you turn them on. This reduces the wear on the linkages and may save you $$$ and problems. Turn your radio and heater off when you park. This will allow 2 things- it will give your starter every bit of energy to satrt your vehicle on a cold day, and it will allow you to hear unusual noises when you s...tart your car. Even M+S tires do not ensure proper traction in slush, snow and ice. Install all weather tires (3 peak) for best safety in the winter and especially on mountain passes. Even decent all season tires with worn tread can lead to trouble. Also, don't forget to turn off and drain your outdoor faucets and fountains to prevent burst water lines. Merry Christmas to everyone and please drive cautiously during the winter weather. See more

Good Morning Mission! Welcome to fall. This fog reminds me of the 70's. Driving east, you would enter the fog in Stave river area and leave it about Lake Erroch area. Back to your car. We still have many drivers who are not aware of how their daytime driving lights (DRL) work. Some vehicles will light the headlights on a reduced voltage circuit and light all of your driving lights in the rear, and will do this as soon as you start your car. Many domestics and others will o...nly turn on the DRL when car is in drive and park brake is released. Others, only turn on the headlights, leaving you to believe that people can see you from the rear, when in fact, they cannot. It is always best to physically turn your headlight switch on in reduced lighting, fog, rain and definitely after dusk. Drive safe out there.

Well folks, It is back to school time again and I feel that it is a good time to discuss oil changes. Some shops offer very inexpensive oil changes (or loss leaders), as a way to get you in their door. Maybe even find some good money making repairs or maintenance. Nothing wrong with that. Quick oil change shops are just that. They buy in bulk, and have very little overhead. ... The catch, with both of these systems is that they need to make up for the loss by finding other repairs, or selling the service of the week. We choose to charge correctly and give you an honest, clear picture of what you need for repairs and maintenance, and when you should have these services done. We will test drive your car- (it is easy to grow accustomed to noises or behaviors that should be addressed). We will test the driver's controls and accessories.Check in car filter and A/C. We will inspect under the hood. We will raise your vehicle and check under the car while your oil is draining. We will look at tire wear, shocks, exhaust and using mirrors, get an idea how brakes are wearing. We will check and set tire pressures. We will top of fluids and install a new oil filter, and correct oil for the vehicle. We will add a new reminder, and reset in car reminders. We will test drive again and wipe down all contact points. Finally, we will gather all of the mechanic's notes and assess the priority, put together estimates and call you to pick up your car and estimates. All of this is done by qualified, and ticketed technicians and takes about 1 hour. Yes we charge more... and now you know why.
