These photos show the effectiveness of the new dike on mission creek and illustrate the flow through the reclaimed area. It will be interesting to see if the course of the creek has meandered into the new area after this flood cycle. Thanks to Jan Vozenilek for the aerial photos, and Wayne Wilson for the ground level shots.
A great fall image from last year by the talented Jan Vozenilek. You can see the new dike in the lower left corner. We live in such a beautiful place!
The Mission Creek project is being recognized for its conservation efforts! Congratulations to all the partners and funding contributors. http://www.castanet.net//Kel/191174/Awarded-for-creek-work

Breaking News from the website: A big THANK-YOU to Mitch MacDonald, a Rutland Senior Secondary School student who raised $1,000 to support the Mission Creek Restoration Initiative (MCRI). Mitch received $150 from RBC as part of its "Let’s Make Canada’s 150th Anniversary Count" initiative, which encourages young Canadians to make a difference in their communities. For his part, Mitch produced a great video about the MCRI. Further, he turned his $150 into $1,000 with help from the Okanagan Chapter of Trout Unlimited Canada and the Central Okanagan Land Trust. #Make150Count http://www.missioncreek.ca//student-makes-150-count-for-m/
