Shortly before his death, when counseling his sons, and also the sons of Ishmael, the prophet Lehi reminded, "...if ye will hearken unto the voice of Nephi ye s...hall not perish. And if ye will hearken unto him I leave you a blessing..." (2 Nephi 1: 28) Nephi's voice is the voice of a prophet--a prophet who shares truth by "the power of the word of God which was in him." (see 2 Nephi 1:26) The 191st General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints begins shortly. Listen to prophets and apostles and inspired church leaders. Remember that some blessings are conditional on our willingness to heed their counsel and God's commands. Like Nephi of old, these representatives of Jesus Christ seek not power or authority over us, but they seek the glory of God and our eternal welfare. (see 2 Nephi 1:25) When we follow the counsel of living prophets, and inspired church leaders, "we can better navigate through the troubled times we live in." https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org//why-its-important-for #GenConf #HearHim #churchofjesuschrist

When I first joined the church, I wasn't used to praying. I prayed but wasn't exactly sure to whom I was praying. I enjoyed learning about God's attributes and... when I said my morning and evening prayers, began picturing his face. What does He look like? He looks very much like you and me. "Because we are made in His image (see Moses 2:26; 6:9), we know that our bodies are like His body...God’s body, however, is perfected and glorified, with a glory beyond all description." (see Gospel Principles "Our Father In Heaven") Russell M. Nelson said,"Our Heavenly Father has a glorified body of flesh and bone, inseparably connected with His spirit. (See D&C 93:33 & D&C 130:22) Scriptures state that He is 'infinite and eternal, from everlasting to everlasting the same unchangeable God' (D&C 20:17) #PresNelson We can know God if we will: --Believe that He exists and that He loves us (see Mosiah 4:9). --Study the scriptures (see 2 Timothy 3:1417). --Pray to Him (see James 1:5). --Obey all His commandments as best we can (see John 14:2123). #comefollowme #HearHim #comefollowme2021 #KnowGod

I was asked by a friend (via social media) to identify some aspects of "the culture of Christ." Following is my hopefully humble response (based on my knowledge..., faith, and beliefs). My response is not all inclusive and was written quickly following Saturday's second session of General Conference. I hope others will add to it. The culture of Christ is a culture of lovelove for God and neighbor. It is a culture of equality, self reliance, and service. It is a culture of peace where we sacrifice a broken heart and a contrite spirit to humbly repent of our poor choices and renew our covenants (promises) with God. It is a culture where "...We move towards loving our adversaries when we avoid anger and hostility towards those which we disagree." (#PresOaks). It is a culture where we are continuously ...striving to live the laws of the Lord and love what he loves: humility, meekness, steadfastness, charity, courage, compassion, forgiveness and obedience. (#ElderRasband) It is a culture of righteousness, unity and diversity. (@CookQuentinL) A culture that asks us to ...follow the example of Jesus and see individuals, their needs, their faith, their struggle and who they can become...to see others as He does His true sons and daughters with infinite and divine potential. Then act by loving, serving, and affirming their worth and potential as prompted. (#SisterCraig) The culture of Christ is one where we acknowledge each other as ...brothers and sisters, spirit children of our heavenly parents literally. There is no prejudice or us versus them mentality in the greatest of all cultures. We are all us. We are all them. (#ElderJackson) The Culture of Christ is a culture of revelationone where individuals are encouraged to align their will with God’s will through prayer, scripture study, and the Holy Spirit. It is a culture of imperfect people who strive to be perfected in Christ!

The prophet Moroni exhorts us to learn of the gifts of the Spirit; we should seek to develop those gifts the Lord has given us. The spiritual gifts mentioned in Moroni 10 (see verses 9-16) include the gift of: wisdom, knowledge, great faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, angels, ministering spirits, tongues and the interpretation of languages. All of these gifts are evident in the church today! ... "And all these gifts come by the Spirit of Christ; and they come unto every man severally, according as he will." (Moroni 10:17) Elder Boyd K. Packer said, " I have thought that the last phrase, 'every man severally, according as he will,' refers to the man himself. If a man wills that the gift should come to him, and he desires it, the gift shall be his." (Teach Ye Diligently, p. 20) If we desire a gift that we don't presently have, and are willing to work for it, the gift shall be ours! Every good gift comes from Christ! After our Christmas lesson next week, we will begin The Doctrine and Covenants. I am excited to learn more about how the gifts of the spirit were used to accomplish his work during the early years of The Restoration! What are your spiritual gifts? Elder Marvin J. Ashton said, "One of the great tragedies of life, it seems to me, is when a person classifies himself as someone who has no talents or gifts."
