COVID-19 UPDATE: DECEMBER 3, 2020 *All adult activity is suspended until further notice, this includes any softball events or activities such as training sessio...ns, team practices, games and competition. This applies to all athletes 19 years of age and older. *Youth softball activity may continue, but teams are restricted to Inning One protocols, practice, clinics, training sessions only and within your community only. No games or scrimmages. *Physical distancing of THREE (3) metres is required at all times during the activity, for both indoor and outdoor activities ** Note the minimum distance is now 3 metres not 2 metres. *No spectators at any indoor activities *Masks are mandatory during all indoor softball activities. The exception is the mask may be removed while engaged in a physical activity, but must be worn at all other times while in the facility. *Youth teams may take part in softball activities in their home club community, and players registered with a team, but who live outside the community may travel to take part in the activities as long as the individual can return home immediately following the scheduled activity. *No drop-in events, pre- registration only for skill development or training. *This is all now posted as an order from the PHO: https://www2.gov.bc.ca//covid-19-provincial-s/restrictions

In support of National Coaches Week, Softball BC is highlighting coaches throughout the week. Michelle Webster coached Team BC to a gold medal finish at the 20...14, Associate Head Coach of the UBC Okanagan Heat, North American Indigenous Games and just out of medal contention at the 2017 North American Indigenous Games in Toronto. For the last three years, Michelle has coached in both the Kelowna and Penticton Minor Fastball Associations. In 2017 Webster was named Head Softball Coach of Zone 2 and finished with a silver medal at the 2018 Cowichan BC Summer Games. In 2018 Michelle received recognition as both Coach of the Year from Softball B.C. and City of Kelowna Sport Hero. Michelle was also selected as an apprentice coach for the 2021 Canada Summer Games. Questions in any order you prefer: Who was/is your mentor? I have been super blessed to spend time with many coaches and try to learn something from everyone. What is one of your best on-field memories? So many amazing moments it's hard to choose. One of my favourite things of all times it watching kids I coached become coaches and being a part of that journey What do you think is the most important aspect of coaching? Building team Culture What advice would you give to an upcoming coach? Be authentic and always remember why you became a coach in the first place. Be open, honest, and positive with your athletes. Earn the trust they will give you. What is your advice in regard to coach education? We have a responsibility to create safe inclusive spaces for our athletes, learn as much as you can as often as you can! It is a privilege to be a coach, but also a great responsibility. Never miss an opportunity to change someone’s life.

Hello Parents! An email has been sent out to all House (C) players in U12 to U19, about the 2020 season. It is important you look for the email and respond in a timely manner. If you did not receive an email please send us an email to: [email protected] requesting the email update.

Another Monday morning Canpitch Drill! 1. If you are inside, tape a powerline on the floor in front of a mirror. 2. If you are outside mark a powerline on the g...round facing towards your catcher or net. 3. You will need: -Your glove, -Ball if outside -A prop (old books, a water bottle or small pylon.) 4. Place the pod approximately 4 from the powerline by your back foot. 5. Put your prop on the powerline far enough away that you have to step forward to go over it. 6. Set your feet at a 45-degree angle with your back heel on the pod or books. 7. Get set in the 11 o’clock position, making sure your hand is under the ball. 8. Go up with your front foot and towards the catcher, finish with squeezing your knees, front foot landing on the powerline. Keep your arm close to your body, releasing the ball (if you are using one) when it is at the hip/leg position. 9. Do the drill every second day for 30 reps. Bring glove and hand up to the 9 o’clock position. 7. Lift the front heel up. 8. Drop the heel down then drive the back knee down and towards your other knee.
