Mission Tennis Club 18.09.2020

Hello, everyone. We hope this message finds you all well and still enjoying these last weeks of summer. Apologies for the delay in our communication, but it’s been a challenge to determine Mission Tennis Club’s fate for the season. We would like provide you with an update in regards to club play. Considering the recent uptick in COVID-19 cases and the lateness of the season with noticeably reducing daylight, we are left with limited options to get the club... running. We cannot emphasise enough how much we miss our tennis family, and we are hopeful that if we are in a similar situation next spring, we will have discovered a means to facilitate our endeavours to play tennis. We hope you continue to enjoy tennis that you arrange independently, and look forward to seeing you on the courts soon. Stay safe. Be well. See more

Greetings Mission Tennis Club Family! We hope you and yours are as well as can be and managing in these unusual times. Mission Parks and Rec has asked us to relay the message, that they have locked the courts at Centennial Park. For obvious reasons, MTC's plans for the upcoming season are indefinitely on hold. We expect many changes affecting our health and well-being to come into effect, so all we can do for now, is wish everyone well and good health. ... Yours in self-isolation, Marval

In October, our own Barry Henderson competed in the Chicago Wheelchair Classic and won the Consolation side in Singles and made it to the Semis in Men's Doubles. Barry has had a break out year, rising more than 150 spots in the International Tennis Federation rankings and has established himself as a threat to win a national title. So it is no surprise that at the Birmingham National Wheelchair Tennis Championships in Montreal this month, Barry posted outstanding results, placing third in Singles and earning a Doubles title with his partner, Thomas Venos. Mission Tennis Club would like to extend a huge congratulations to Barry and wish him continued success in his next tournament. Way to go, Barry

Our club hosted Maple Ridge in our third annual interclub tournament. It was a fun morning filled with great tennis and sportsmanship, and even though the weather didn’t permit us to complete every match, we came out the victors for 2019. Although we wish it would be possible to include everyone, we really appreciate everyone’s understanding with the disruption of normal Sunday club hours. Next up will be the men's and women's doubles tournament on Sun., Aug. 25th. Check out our website http://missiontennisclub.weebly.com/ for more details!

We hope everyone enjoyed the Fun Tournament and has recovered from playing in the extreme heat. Thank you all for your camaraderie and great sportsmanship. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful tennis 'family'. It was very thoughtful of those who brought snacks and extra food, and thanks to Dasha for helping set up the table for dinner. As always, your generous donations to the food bank are sincerely appreciated. A big thank you to Mark and Val for their time and effort in organizing this event, which wouldn't happen without your hard work and perseverance!
