Our staff & volunteers are busy preparing for our annual Operation Christmas Love campaign. Due to pandemic restrictions, we have not been able to enter State Institutions in Ukraine since the spring. Through this time, we have still been able to deliver much-needed goods, but haven’t been able to facilitate our Christian Input events and puppet shows for the children. This past October, our team in Bosnia-Herzegovina was able to harvest over 4,300 kg of potatoes that had been planted for our use. That’s over 9 thousand pounds, for those who still think in the imperial system! Some 500 kilos will be distributed to MWB beneficiaries in the Mostar region, and the rest will be used at our Soup Kitchen in Glamoc, which feeds more than 90 people every day. The potatoes will be a great blessing to many, as potatoes are used as the base for many d...ifferent dishes that they serve. For this initiative, we had many of our beneficiaries helping along the way, from the planting and tending of the field, to the harvesting of the potatoes. They were very proud to have a chance to contribute to the work of the Mission. As a token of gratitude, each volunteer received a gift package and a message of encouragement. In the past week, our team in Bosnia-Herzegovina made a visit to a refugee camp near Sarajevo. Winter is coming and these refugees are in great need of warm clothing and footwear. Due to the unfavorable situation in which they find themselves, tensions are becoming more frequent. Just two days before our visit, there was a murder where a refugee killed a local citizen, which has unfortunately only created additional tensions. A pastor who partners with our work, and our cou...ntry director of Bosnia and Herzegovina visited the refugee center where they brought help - both materially and spiritually. Five refugees regularly go to church, among them is someone newly converted to Christianity from Iran, and persecuted Christians from Pakistan. Please pray for these dear people, for their desperate situation, and for peace and God’s providence in their midst. Even in the face of a world-wide pandemic and with local restrictions in place, we are SO grateful to be able to provide material, emotional and spiritual support to those in extreme need, wherever they can be found. In Bosnia-Herzegovina, one community where we work Bugojno has many COVID-19 infections. Please pray for the people there to listen to sound health advice, stay safe and remain healthy. We are also hoping to start a work in a new community Jayce in central Bosnia. Mission Without Borders brings hope to impoverished people and communities in eastern Europe, in six of the poorest countries there. Through material, emotional, and spiritual support, our aim is to see people find a better future for themselves. These photos show an earlier visit in Moldova of local pastor Gheorghe (brown jacket) with Mr Ilie (in wheelchair), one of our Senior Care beneficiaries. Pastor Gheorghe promised to bring Mr Ilie a Cyrillic Bible on their next visit.... In Soviet times, Cyrillic is what was taught and that is what Mr Ilie can only read and write in to this day. Also pictured is Mr Ilie along with our local coordinator Petru, on a more recent visit this fall, with the promised Cyrillic Bible. Mr Ilie was very happy when he got his new Bible, and now he can read God’s Word in his own language and perhaps one day ask Jesus as His personal savior. We are thankful for the work we are still able to do while our field countries are on pandemic restrictions.
