More than 80 Nonprofits urge Premier to Legislate Adequate, Permanent Paid Sick Days. We call on the Ontario Government FordNation to institute 10 permanent employer paid sick days for Ontario. The lives of essential workers must be valued as much as our society values their labour. http://ow.ly/gtji50EGqCg
@mcsalegal recently launched a challenge to a law that excludes refugee claimants&others w/ precarious immig status from claiming Canada Child Benefits-even those w/ Canadian born children are denied. If you think this is unfair, sign here: http://ow.ly/UFY750Ey59I #CCBJUSTICE
We are disheartened to hear that many individs without status or photo ID are being refused COVID19 vaccines. The elderly are told w/out status/ID, they are not eligible. We cannot curb COVID19 unless our gvmt guarantees #Vaccinesforall. Sign if you agree: http://ow.ly/z10W30rGcdv
Read this great breakdown showing why the recently announced sick days scheme by Ontario Government FordNation is NOT a viable solution, and leaves many workers worse off. Ontarians need 10 legislated, employer-paid sick days NOW. #PaidSickDaysSaveLives http://ow.ly/ACNm50EAWGP
In Brampton 22.4 per cent of patient samples were testing positive as of last week, more than double the provincial average, which itself recently reached a record high. According to Dr. Amit Arya, a physician who worked in Peel for most of the pandemic, one key issue is the large number of essential workers who can’t afford to take time off. Most people he’s seen get sick from COVID-19 in the city are either an essential worker, or a family member of an essential worker. ‘W...e know that COVID-19 doesn’t affect everyone equally,’Arya told the Star last week. ‘Brampton has so many factories, warehouses, food services and people working in transit and front-line health care. These are people who can’t stay home.’ Listen to the experts @ONgov @fordnation Paid sick days are needed NOW. http://ow.ly/FuF030rG2MN

Emily, just 13 years old, passed away after contracting COVID-19. Emily's dad works at a warehouse. This tragic loss highlights the need for the @ONgov to act NOW, to shut down non-essential businesses, and to provide #PaidSickDays to ALL Ontarians. http://ow.ly/e2kD50Ey2vl
In Peel region - there were over 400 workplace outbreaks and 90 ongoing workplace investigations. Between September and December, 66 percent of Peel’s community outbreaks occurred in workplaces, a trend that has only continued. Medical officer of health for Region of Peel Dr. Lawrence Loh: We clearly have a workplace problem..And the game has changed with the variants. The story of Peel has always been the story of disparity. Throughout the pandemic, that has been our bigge...st challenge...If we stuck to science and recommendations of science, things may have gone more smoothly. This article shows the heartbreaking consequences of Ontario Government & FordNation failure to listen to the experts: https://thelocal.to/you-cant-stop-the-spread-of-the-virus-/

If it’s between self-isolation and putting food on the table, many are choosing to go to work. This increases the risk of spread. Next Tuesday @BonnieCrombie will support a motion to call on the province and federal government to support workers. Bravo! http://ow.ly/pTQL30rsKWl
