A controlled burn (known formally as a prescribed burn) was completed yesterday at the tallgrass prairie at Jack Darling Memorial Park. The following video offers a glimpse into the process as undertaken by trained professionals. Tallgrass prairies need periodic fire to regenerate and get rid of invasive woody plants. As such, controlled burns are a way to maintain the health of this rare ecosystem. A special thank you to residents for your patience and co-operation during th...is process and to Mississauga Fire & Emergency Services for being on site to ensure safety. We’re excited for you to experience some winter fun soon on one of the 35 natural ice rinks located in Mississauga parks! Unfortunately, Mother Nature hasn’t cooperated so far this season. Once we have a few days of temperatures below freezing, our community volunteers will be able to prep the rinks for your enjoyment. For more information on the program including rink locations, visit https://mississauga.ca/events-and-attr//natural-ice-rinks/.
It's #BirdDay! Birdwatching or birding is a fun, year-round activity for all ages. You can do this from just about anywhere and it’s a perfect activity to try this winter while practising #physicaldistancing.

#Mississauga’s beautiful parks and trails and the amenities that they offer would not be possible if not for the dedication and creativity of the City’s Park Planning and Park Development teams. On this World Town Planning Day, we’d like to say thanks for all they do! #WTPD2020
