Hello 2021!!! We are on our FIRST year round schedule in the off season. Made in the Sticks Gift Shop will be open five days a week. Open Wednesday to Sunday 9am to 5pm!! We will be closed on Monday and Tuesday! This schedule will remain in effect until May.... Happy New Year Everyone!! It’s time for me to get crafting .

I want to thank each and everyone of you for supporting MITS Gift Shop through a challenging year!!! I am closed for a few days to spend with family and to get some R&R as I put in every ounce of effort since November 27th to make the best possible Christmas Season at Made in the Sticks. We are currently closed due to NO POWER. We just got the generator going at the house but is not enough to supply everything needed at the shop. Hang tight - be safe - stay warm and we will be back soon.

Made in the Sticks will be closing early today at 3:00pm as I have an important doctors appointment that can’t be missed. Tomorrow will be business as usual as we are now on fall hours. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

So with school back in and tourism down this year, we have decided to start our fall hours schedule a little earlier. Effective today this will be the hours until December of which we revert back to a 7 day schedule.

So this one is for all you Cocoa related fans!! Most of you are aware that Cocoa our little black cat mascot (aka the Neighbours Cat), passed away last winter. As cocoa had been with us since day one and as she gained so many friends, I had a special painting made to commemorate her and how much she meant to us.... This painting will be arriving to us soon and will be posted on the wall next to the door inside the gift shop. I figured it was only fitting to have something handmade then having a picture put in a frame. I looked around and had finally found the right person for the job. As you all know I am a crafter also... I just posted some back to school hoodies I made for family and seem to have gotten some interest with a few orders already received!! I will placing an order for hoodies on Tuesday Sept 8th.... Hoodies are $20 each and will need to place half a deposit as they are custom made. Etransfer and Credit Cards accepted and can be custom to any design!!!

BEAVERTAILS are returning to Made in the Sticks Gift Shop on: Saturday, October 10, 2020 From 1pm to 5pm We will be fully set up with TONNES of new items so please don’t hesitate to shop while you snack on a delicious treat !!! As much as we would like to have the others mentioned we extend the invite and they are always welcome Stay tuned for further details as we get closer to our event!

Let’s Face it...this year has been a very challenging year for most of us in many forms. Everything is changing in front of our eyes. So to help change some of those frowns, we have decided to host a fun event free of charge!!... NOTE: COVID 19 RULES WILL APPLY. Made in the Sticks Gift Shop will be fully decorated and invite children up to the age of 12 to come to the shop and collect some treats. Our staff and friends are volunteering their time to dress up in certain stations within the shop to hand out treats. Children are required to wear gloves (like the cheap winter gloves to warm your hands) with their costumes as well as a mask. Children will need to be registered by their parents as we will have to go by groups of five in 15 minute intervals. We ask that since the shop is closing it’s doors that people whom register - if at any time you are unable to attend to please make sure you cancel accordingly as we will only have a certain amount of time slots. Registration and further details to follow and will begin to accept registrants on September 2 and will need to register by October 10th to make sure we will have enough treats for each child attending Stay tuned for further registration information. We ask for your cooperation in following through with your designated Trick or Treat Times

As most of you know by now I have experienced some bad luck this past year with back injuries and they certainly play their roles but I have to take it day by day. As I am short coverage I am delaying opening today and likely tomorrow and will be open 11am to 5pm. I have been nursing this last injury from last week and to avoid closing for the day - this is the best I can do. With this damp weather upon us has made the mornings particularly difficult!! ... The show must go on - but at 11am !!! See you then

The whole reason I got into starting a gift shop business was because I am a crafter myself. I was so busy with the early successes and advances, I forgot that I make stuff too . Well, It took a long time after opening before I felt comfortable selling my own items next to the group of multi-talented vendors who are now part of Made in the Sticks Gift Shop.... Something I noticed quite often that customers were interested in what items were mine. Well here is a page dedicated to my crafting creations. I have made several items since beginning my new hobby of woodburning in 2016 and opening a gift shop in 2018. So, you will notice that my upcoming posts will be of my past works all saved under individual albums for quick reference. I’m just starting to slowly get back into it but here is a custom order I just completed yesterday. This is a 16 custom wooden circle and we are just getting ready for custom orders to begin next week. Hope you enjoy Courtney

It’s Official - Mandatory Mask Wearing here at Made in the Sticks and in Nova Scotia !!!

Just a friendly reminder... As of tomorrow July 31, 2020 - masks will be mandatory while visiting us at Made in the Sticks Gift Shop. We are all ready in the case you forget yours or don’t have one and will have disposable masks for a small fee.... We also have a limited supply of handmade masks and will be getting another supply in the days ahead. Stay safe everyone and wear a mask

Please take note this comes into effect This Friday. There will be NO exception to the rule !!

As per the provinces mask mandate... Effective on Friday, July 31st, it will be mandatory for you to wear a mask when visiting our Gift Shop. Masks will NOT be provided for you. We do have a very limited supply of handmade masks for sale. ... Although we won’t have them this weekend...We will have disposable masks for purchase soon in the event you forget yours or do not have one. This will remain in place until the province announces otherwise. Going forward, you will not be allowed to enter the gift shop if you choose NOT to wear a mask and will be asked to come visit us another time as it is our efforts for the purpose of keeping everyone safe. We thank- you in advance for your understanding in the matter.

I am still not feeling well and still have a great deal of pain to deal with. I have been unable to stay up on my feet but the show must go on!!! Yesterday I was open 12-5 as I had no coverage. This weekend it’s business as usual. ... I will try my up most best to keep the shop open and running during this hiccup in health.
