As we end the year and head into the holiday shopping season - we're expecting it to be busy the rest of the month. We're doing our best to be able to help everyone but there will be lineups through the day to take advantage of our take-out window. With that in mind - we are adding more hours next week. Our old neighbours from James St., White Elephant recently announced that they were sadly closing down. Their most recent post is filled with many truths of trying to run a small business during a pandemic. At the best of times - it aint easy! For many of us, this year has stretched us very thin. Jane and Hollie are hoping to not be in debt when they finally close their doors and are taking preorders for their very cute cloth bag. The shops are looking fine in Westdale Village these days. Lots of green on the trees and flowers are blooming! Open for scheduled pick up and were working on our next phase of opening. Stay tuned!

Our good friend, John Terpstra is involved in a new book called Sweetwater - Poems for the Watersheds and at noon on Wed. May 20th the local virtual launch will be available for viewing. How can one explain the many aspects of trying to run a shop like ours during a pandemic? It sure has been an experience and not something we would like to ever do again. It definitely has been stressful and filled with anxiety for our little family-run shop. Also - we miss having you all here! Thats the magic of the shop - the randomness of the day, the stories told and the energy you all bring to the place. The Stabilo Woody 3+1 colored pencil set is an incredibly well-made and clever art product for both kids and adults. They are essentially oversized colored pencils with a crayon-like center and wood body. The coolest part is that they are water-soluble, which means they can be washed out of clothing and fabrics AND can also be used for watercolor painting. One of our bestselling items!

We have watched many of our neighbouring shops across the city do the same and we feel it is important to limit in-person interaction at this time. Hello friends of Mixed Media and King W. Books. As of March 13 - were continuing regular shop hours for now but will review our operations on a day-to-day basis. We understand that there is a growing concern about the COVID-19 virus and the potential impact on businesses, programs and families. We share your concern and have taken measures to prevent the spread of this illness. While Hamilton Public Health Department has stressed that risk to the general public remains lo...w we are focused on preventative measures and have taken the following preventative steps: All visitors and staff with symptoms such as a fever, coughing, or difficulty breathing, are asked to remain home and report symptoms to their health care provider or Telehealth Ontario (1-866-797-0000). Frequently-used surfaces such as doors, door handles, debit/credit terminal, front counter area will be cleaned and sanitized with increased frequency. We will continue to review and practice protocols to ensure safe engagement and interaction with all visitors. If you do not feel comfortable coming to the shops and still want to buy a book or some supplies to get you through this time - we are working on a way to deliver items locally. As we dont have the resources in place for a large delivery area - please call the shop at 905-527-2442 to inquire about the options we currently have in place.
