My name is Chris and I am a drug addict, Since I was a kid, I’ve never felt like I belonged here. I never fit in with any of the cliques at school, I always ha...d friends but I never felt super close with any of them until recently. I’ve also never felt like my life had any purpose. I was never one of those people who knew what they wanted to do when they grow up and I kind of just floated through life really just kind of being stagnant. In the last few months, I went through a break up that well, destroyed me. I’m still not over it. I relapsed on meth. I alienated myself from my family, my friends and society. I had been awake for days. I was in a state of psychosis. I was ready to end it I had broken down to one of the most amazing people I know. One of my best friends. She reminded me that several people have reached out to me to tell me that my music had helped them get through tough times. Break ups, loss of family members and it even convinced someone to step back from the metaphorical ledge. The same ledge I was on at that moment. She made me think about all the people that I wouldn’t help if I stopped making music. And I realized. My suffering. My pain. My feeling of not belonging here. Had a purpose. That I **was** put here for a reason. My music wasn’t just therapeutic for me. It legitimately helped people! Which is all I’ve ever wanted it to do. The emotion in my music is 100% genuine. If you want to know how I’m feeling any particular day, just listen to what I’m working on. I’m learning to embrace my pain. Not fight it. Channel it into something that I can share with my friends, family and even strangers.nI’ve realized that I do belong. I made my own place to belong and the purpose of my pain and suffering is to help people. This is why I, with some of my best homies, have started Bass Therapy. At its core, it is a record label that promotes genuine music. At a higher level, It is a group of artists, musicians and creatives whose main goal is to spread awareness and end stigmas that surround mental health and addiction. We will be hosting monthly live streams with artists, musicians and any kind of creatives. We will discuss music, art and most importantly, mental health and addiction. We will be working to find resources for people all over who struggle with mental health and addiction. When you listen to my music, you are not alone. Music is what keeps us connected and not just with me but, all of the lost souls who have gathered for a little bass therapy.
