For #StPatricksDay, here’s George Payne of Cow Head with a #Newfoundland variant of a well-known #Irish song, The Little Beggarman, in which a beggar celebrates the freedom of his itinerant lifestyle. Ragadoo/rigadoo may refer to the beggar’s pack/rig or his ragged overcoat. It also likely has a sexual connotation, in keeping with the suggestive tone of the song as a whole. The film is part of the Connecting Culture and Childhood Project, based at York University, which investigates how young people around the world are working to revitalize their #culturalheritage th...rough creative arts practices.
