This is interesting and encouraging. It is nice to see that with the lazy seduction of the internet and the unreliability of a lot of what is posted online that people are still using the library. Back in the 80's I was a volunteer Public trustee and member of the Toronto Public Library Board. One of our largest issues to deal with was defending the Library budget as well as the importance and relevance of the Library to the community. While the internet was becoming increas...ingly more useful and some futurists predicted it taking over every vital function in our society, we argued that there is no replacement for the tactile experience of reading a book and having a place to gather to share the books and the experience - for free. I believe there even some are stats showing a resurgence in the small independent new and used book stores. With all of the unfounded propaganda available on the virtual vitriolic social media feeds today, there may be a glimmer of hope for a few unburnt books in the world.
