JACLYN BEN-EZRA, J.D. Associate at Modern Family Law LLP Jaclyn Ben-ezra is an associate lawyer at Modern Family Law LLP. She practices exclusively in the area of family and divorce law. ... Jaclyn received her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa. She then completed her articles at a family law litigation firm, where she continued working as an associate, until joining Modern Family Law LLP. Jaclyn has a wealth of experience with complex family law issues and litigation. She is devoted to all aspects of family law, including divorce, custody and access, child and spousal support, property division, and domestic contracts, including separation agreements and parenting agreements. Jaclyn is a strong advocate for her clients both inside and outside of the courtroom. She is a skilled negotiator when negotiating a resolution, and a fearless litigator when court is required. She is dedicated and supportive to her clients. She is also tirelessly committed to helping her client's achieve their goals in the most child focused, cost effective and time efficient manner. STEPHANIE PASTERNAK, J.D., LL.M. (FAMILY LAW) Partner at Modern Family Law LLP Stephanie Pasternak is a founding partner of Modern Family Law LLP.... She graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2006 and has practiced family and divorce law exclusively since 2007. In 2010, Stephanie obtained her Masters of Law specializing in family law through Osgoode Hall Law School. She has extensive experience dealing with complex aspects of family and divorce law, including, custody and access, child support and spousal support, and property issues. Stephanie has substantial litigation experience and is a strong and fearless advocate for her clients when court is required. However, she also works tirelessly to successfully negotiate resolutions for her clients through settlement discussions and meetings. She recognizes and appreciates the importance of resolving issues as amicably and expeditiously as possibly, especially when children are involved and when parties wish to minimize conflict. She has a strong background in alternative forms of dispute resolution, through extensive academic training and practical experience as counsel in mediations/arbitrations. While attending Osgoode Hall Law School, she focused her studies on dispute resolution and completed the Litigation, Dispute Resolution and Administration of Justice Colloquium and gained experience assisting with mediations. She later completed a Masters level course in Alternative Dispute Resolution, where she wrote a paper on the Voice of the Child in court proceedings. She recently completed further advanced training in mediation and parenting coordination through Riverdale Mediation. She is on the path towards becoming a certified mediator and parenting coordinator. Stephanie has been a family law instructor at Seneca College for law clerks and a co-coach for the family law mooting team at Osgoode Hall Law School. After articling in the corporate head office of a large company, he has worked exclusively in the field of family law since 2006. ... Michael has been successful at every level of court in Ontario, including the Court of Appeal. Throughout his career, Michael has been involved in a number of cases which involve the intersection between family law and other areas of law, including corporate issues, estates law, and bankruptcy law. In addition to dealing with cases involving other areas of law, Michael has presented at a number of continuing legal education programs, including in front of doctors on the intersection of women’s health issues and family law, before Toronto lawyers on the intersection of certain estate issues and family law, and at the Six Minute Family Lawyer in 2018, where he presented on the topic of bankruptcy and family law. Michael has also been involved with three Charter of Rights and Freedoms cases separately involving children’s naming rights and support for adult children. As a panel lawyer with the Office of the Children’s Lawyer, Michael advocates for children in family law cases. Michael has represented children in both custody and access and child protection cases.
