Did you know that wreaths are a representation of faith and, over time, Christmas wreaths have come to represent a ‘Warm Welcome’ and ‘Christmas Spirit’? MODG would like to spread some additional Christmas Cheer! If you know of someone in your community who needs a little extra Christmas Spirit delivered to their door this Christmas season, please call the Recreation Department at (902) 533-2088. We will enter all names into a draw for 10 wreaths which will be delivered directly to their door. We hope these wreaths will bring some joy and comfort to residents throughout the Christmas season.

Christmas Cheer Challenge This year has been difficult for many, and with that, it’s the perfect time to bring some holiday cheer to our lives. The Municipality of Guysborough’s Recreation Department is hosting a ‘Spread the Christmas Cheer Challenge’ bringing communities in our Municipality together in a safe manner that brings joy to all! 1. Hang a Christmas bow on your door or in your yard for all to see we are in this together. If you do not have a Christmas bow please co...ntact the recreation department at 902-533-2088 and we can deliver one to you. Feel free to add Christmas lights and decorations that you regularly display during the Christmas season. 2. Sunday, December 13th at 1:00 pm dress up in holiday cheer (ugly Christmas sweaters, Santa hats, festive colours, etc.) team up with people in your bubble and go for a walk in your community. Residents that are not walking can wave, cheer, and bang pots and pans as neighbours walk by. Walkers are encouraged to donate a toy or monetary donation to Operation Christmas Spirit. Choose a captain from your walking group who will deliver the donations to the recreation department at the Chedabucto Lifestyle Complex. 3. Take a picture of your festive walking group and submit photos to [email protected]. Photos will be posted on our Facebook page to spread virtual Christmas cheer! Please make sure to follow all COVID-19 public health guidelines around social distancing. When social distancing can’t be maintained please wear a mask!
