I was thinking about the collective triumph of making it through 2020, and facing 2021 with a new wave of shut downs - and my mind wandered to this Rumi quote.... If you want the moon, do not hide from the night. If you want a rose, do not run from the thorns. If you want love, do not hide from yourself. Rumi We all miss being together in the hot room. We miss it like soil misses rain. We miss the studios, our second homes. We miss sipping tea in the bustle after class. We miss real live hugs. And - in spite of this longing we have all had the chance to open up to an entirely new form of practice. Our online time together has been a revelation, a lifeline, a way to keep the Modo flame souring. Even our teacher training went online and we built a true community in our time together. I know we ALL want to be in the studios, in the hot room again. And we WILL BE. And until that time, we pivot and we practice virtually. We face the pandemic with movement. We set our intentions and we go inward even in this incredibly hard time. You know what? You’re doing great. Yes, you. It is this inner work in practice that shapes and carries our dreams. My mom always says - we get what we need in order to evolve. Yes, it’s been a real no-joke year. And yet here we all are. Maybe you fell out of practice with work challenges, kids at home etc. Just as you fell out, you can fall right back in. To each and every Modo studio, teacher and student, I salute you for the wise inner work you have all done this year, and continue to do as we turn the page on a New Year in Practice. Without each and every one of your voices, your spirits, and your dedication to practice, your support of your studios, Modo would not be what it is today. It is such an honour to grow together. Le temps des fêtes et l’approche de la nouvelle année est bien souvent une période où nous prenons le temps de constater ce qui est survenus dans l’année, ce que nous avons accompli, célébré, combattu, ou ce par quoi nous avons passé à travers. 2020 a été une année de grands défis, de beaucoup de souffrance et on va se le dire, d’ombres et de noirceur. Mais c’est dans cette noirceur que nous pouvons apercevoir la lumière. Merci d’être en grande partie ces lumières qui nous pe...rmettent de continuer à avancer. C’est dans des moments comme 2020, que nous pouvons pratiquer la profonde reconnaissance pour la simplicité, et la présence de ceux qui sont près de nous. Même si cette présence est parfois exprimée à distance, l’énergie elle, se fait ressentir et sera toujours là si on la crée. . Globally, 2020 was a very special year where we were faced with many challenges and great darkness. The world seemed broken in many different aspects but it is through the brokenness and through the cracks that we started to see the light. Your light was so bright during our darkest times and we cannot thank you enough for your continued support. Your light moved us and kept the studio afloat as we navigated through the cracks. 2020 is definitely a good reminder that even though we are physically distanced, your energy is felt and that we can practice with deep gratitude for the simplicity that surrounds us. .
