Construction is progressing nicely on our client’s #Dovercourt Garden Suite. This 757 SF two bedroom, single-storey #backyardcottage is taking shape. #duxtonwindows and doors scheduled to be installed this week!

This unique two-storey #gardensuite sits beside an existing garage. The owners wanted to keep their garage which has been substantially upgraded over the years. We designed a compact dwelling to fit in the remaining space. Framing is complete and rough-ins are well underway. We are excited to be working with Kuby Renewable Energy LTD. on this project. An 8 kW solar array will be installed this summer!

We’re in the final few months of our client’s garden suite in #garneau. Interior cabinetry is nearly complete. Flooring and finishing is about to start; exterior siding is underway. It’s a light-filled, one bedroom, one bathroom, two-storey suite with a modern pedigree. This #gardensuite is a great addition to a neighbourhood filled with diverse dwelling forms.

A new Garden Suite Design is underway for our client’s elderly parents so they can safely age in place, close to home, close to family. This Garden Suite is coming to the Edmonton community of Dovercourt! It’s a 36’ x 22’ backyard cottage accompanied by a new detached garage. Our client is taking advantage of their lot size and shape, separating the Garden Suite from the garage. A dominant characteristic of our client’s backyard is a massive tree. We’ve designed around the tree which will offer shade, a home for wildlife, and changing views throughout the seasons. We enjoy helping our clients visualize how their project is going to feel on their property. By providing renderings or 3D animations, the images and video help to align the homeowner, designer, contractor, trades and suppliers throughout the stages of the project.

Announcing a new Backyard Suite development in the community of Westgate, in Calgary. It’s a smart example of gently adding density through multi-generational living. Our clients are so excited to be building their dream urban cottage. This Calgary Backyard Suite has been designed around a challenging lot the ...suite needed to keep distance from the primary dwelling while responding to the lot shape as it tapers North. The two-storey 888 SF Backyard Suite will feature two bedrooms, two bathrooms, open kitchen-dining-living space, vaulted ceilings, under-stair laundry, an attached 524 SF garage and a private interior courtyard. As part of our design process, we develop a 3D model to help our clients visualize their project. This is an exciting stage of the design. This massing study is for a little backyard cottage we're designing in the community of Glenora. A 3D model is also super beneficial for our team of trades and suppliers to help them get a sense of what we're going to build. Much easier to show them what it's going to look like vs. explaining it.

This early concept is for a little backyard cottage: 600 SF on the main floor + a 275 SF loft. Our clients are building their new suite beside their existing garage. Construction on our client's Garden Suite in the community of Capilano is coming to a close. The exterior is a calming palette of fibre cement board and batten, paired with real stone. The timeless combo looks amazing. This is a durable, low maintenance exterior designed to last for decades. All that's left to install is the glass railing a classy final detail that provides uninterrupted views out to the park and puts the exclamation point on a successful project.
