Extremely grateful to announce the launch of our book Akhwatsirehko:wa- My Big Family! Who would have thought I’d be a published author? For the past 2 years ...I have been working along side Brennor Tait bringing this project to life. It’s easily been the most rewarding thing that I’ve ever done. We heard some of the most amazing stories from players, coaches, referees and fans of our game. I hope that you will enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Thank you to everyone Turtle Back Publishing could not have done this without all your hard work behind the scenes! Get your copy today https://onlc.ca/online-store/

We must act now if we are to preserve the ancestral inheritance that binds all Shawnee people together, said Barnes. We must act now if we wish to continue our traditional communities, for without our language, our ancient religion and beliefs that our parents and grandparents passed onto our traditional communities will be lost.
"This one has a lot of promise because so many people are now using apps, phones and tablets," she said. "So we figured they will have access to the language if we developed an app."

"Kris visits the Haudenosaunee Longhouses in the interactive museum of Ska-Nah-Doht Village in the Lower Thames Valley. Sarain tackles the famous Cup and Saucer Trail on Manitoulin Island as part of the Great Spirit Circle Trail, a tour guide company that is reframing the way tourists experience the land. Kris and Sarain lose themselves in the world of Virtual Reality with Haudenosaunee Software Developer Monica Peters, who gives them head-mounted displays and takes them on a journey into Endangered Languages."
"It's not the first time an NHL game has been presented in languages other than English and French. For example, Hockey Night in Canada began broadcasting in Punjabi in 2008, and CBC North broadcasters called an NHL game in Inuktitut during Hockey Day in Canada in 2010."
The project will consist of two gatherings. The first will focus on Mohawk teachers and speakers, who will craft the more practical parts of the curriculum, while the second will bring together researchers and linguists, who will dig down into the technicalities of the teaching framework.
"The 2016 Census notes that, among Indigenous languages in Greater Vancouver, Cree is the most common mother tongue listed. But because it doesn’t originate from here the traditional homelands of both the Cree and Ojibwe lie east of the Rockies there’s no obvious place to naturally nurture Cree and Ojibwe languages. So organizations like the Pacific Association of First Nations Women are trying to fill that gap by creating surrogate spaces for local Cree and Ojibwe people to keep them connected to their identities."
"The community didn't have access to the Internet or satellite television for the majority of Wapachee's childhood and most of the people who lived there spoke Cree as their first language."

Two years ago, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 2019 the International Year of Indigenous Languages to preserve, revitalize and promote Indigenous languages around the world with the aim of fostering social, economic and political development, reconciliation and peace building.
Sutherland said he thought about how nice it would be to watch the shows he enjoys in his own language and decided that, since no one else seemed to be doing it, he would try his hand at dubbing cartoons in Anishinaabemowin.
