I often find guidance in Mary Oliver’s poetry, and it happened again last weekendI spent all Saturday afternoon among the trees. Those hours in the woods rem...inded me how important it is to walk slowly, and bow often, literally and metaphorically. During that time, I also realized that I can’t walk away from a big writing project that’s been calling to me. But to do it well, I need to open up more time and space in my days. So I’m going to cut back on the frequency of my Facebook posts for a few months. I’ll continue to pop up from time to time with a noticesuch as the one belowas well as an occasional poem, and a thought or two. Later this year, I’ll get back to posting more regularly. In the meantime, my wish for you is Mary OIiver’s wish for all of us: That we will realize that, like the trees, we too have come into the world to go easy, to be filled with light, and to shine.
