Feels like bus service to the West End has been compromised in the past few years & COVID made it worse. Interesting reporting from the West End Journal. https://www.thewestendjournal.ca/blog/2020//1/a-closer-look

Best wishes and happy trails to our friend Marvin Bates who is relocating to seniors’ housing in his home town of Williams Lake this weekend. Marvin and his partner David moved to Mole Hill right after renovations in 2002 and he served two terms on our board of directors. Marvin is known as a warm and friendly neighbour, a conscientious gardener, and a great conversationalist with a sharp mind full of a million stories and memories. Marvin’s dad, a WW2 tank corp veteran, was ...a BC Cowboy Hall of Fame legend who won the famous mountain race at the Williams Lake Stampede in 1947 (known as the dry land equivalent of shooting Niagara Falls in a barrel) and was voted Best Cowboy in the Cariboo in 1949 and 1950. His father’s career as a rodeo rider and later a horse trainer meant that Marvin moved around a lot while growing up throughout Western Canada and the States. After High School Marvin found employment at the Marshall-Wells store in Quesnel, before moving to Vancouver in the Spring of 1971. At first Marvin lived in Kitsilano, where he helped manage a John Howard Society shelter for young native men, and then he lived in the Little Mountain area. But he eventually saw the light and became a West Ender in 1973. Since then he has been a well-known figure in our community, and has friends all over Vancouver. He will be greatly missed around Mole Hill and the West End. Our first photo shows Baby Marvin in the late 1940s with his parents Doreen and Louie. The second photo is from this week - sharing a farewell elbow-bump with our Gary. Good luck friend! See more

There is an 18 storey condo building proposed for 1116 Pendrell Street. This is across Pendrell Street from Mole Hill. This is the LAST DAY to provide comments before this goes to the development permit board. Please make your feelings about this known: https://shapeyourcity.ca/1116-pendrell-st

A second tower is proposed on the 1100 block of Pendrell Street. 109 condos and 16 market-rent suites. Nothing below market (or dare we even suggest ministry rate?). 1116 Pendrell is directly across Pendrell Street from Mole Hill. It's on the Southside so will shadow as well as overlook us. As we've seen in the past, the developers are exploiting the proximity to Mole Hill in the proposal. Thoughts? https://dailyhive.com/vancou/1116-pendrell-street-vancouver

We all have tons of respect and good wishes to Jen, who lived at Mole Hill for many years before leaving us to follow her calling earlier this year. Here's a lovely tribute to our friend.
