Confidence Post How are confidence and well being connected? . It’s a strange one, that’s for sure.... . I used to think I needed to be healthy - eat well, work out, be fit, be energized, be thin - and then I would feel confident. . Surprise, surprise. That’s not how it works. This isn’t a cause and effect situation, and I realized that connecting health as a means to gain confidence is actually a form of perfectionism, idealism, a standard: until I’m perfect, I can’t be confident. . Health, wellbeing and confidence ARE linked, but indirectly. There’s actually something in between that’s linking the two. . I call it alignment, but this is also in the same realm as living your truth, whole hearted living, etc. . This has been my experience. . When I have my attention on what I’m eating, my exercise, how I look, the amount of money in my bank account, etc. more often than not, I feel dissatisfied, not enough like I’m not there yet. . On the flip side, when my energy is focused on the impact I am having and want to have, my purpose, what my life is for, I feel live and inspired AND strangely all that other stuff - the money, the way I eat, exercise, my body image - they just fall into place. . This is my happy place and I love revealing this happy place to my clients. . A sure fire sign that you’re not in that place, is any experience of suffering, rigidity, deprivation, fatigue/exhaustion with respect to how you’re eating and/or moving & exercising. . Wellness is about SO MUCH MORE THAN EATING RIGHT! Let me explain - you might be eating well but: . Aren't eating for your body's needs Aren't moving or doing the right kind of movement Have too many temptations in your environment... Are actually eating crap Are so stressed that all that great food can't be utilized Have unidentified conditions that get in the way of all that great food Your condition requires more than dietary changes in order to be addressed . I could go on, but you get the point. . I'm not saying this to scare anyone, so if I freaked you out - take a deep breath. I'm saying this to point out that we've been sold a pipe dream that goes like this: if you just eat fewer calories & better quality foods, you should see results AND if you're not seeing the results, you're doing one of those things wrong. . This is not the case. . If you're not letting out a big sigh of relief because HOLY CRAP, there's more to this puzzle than I thought! - I'ma go ahead and let you do that now. . We all have things that we regret - doing, saying, not doing, not saying.... - I know there are a thousand things if I could do it again I would do differently. - Looking backwards, I see so many ways I would have handled my business, my relationships, my friendships, my own self care.... - But it's the mishaps and mistakes that I made that have give me that insight.
