Momentum Health & Wellness 16.09.2020

This is what home schooling has looked like in our house this past week! Some writing, printing, crafts, mindfulness by the fire, pj day, and LOTS of exploring outside. My girls have been overall happier, less worries and more engaged in what were learning and reading.... AND I feel like I am a calmer and happier mom too. Of course we still have our daily struggles and Im still figuring all of this out, but Im pretty excited for this year and spending more time with my girls!

Good morning lovelies Just wanted to let you know I see you, I hear you and Im here for you if you need to talk. Dont forget to check in with your friends and see how they are really doing. When someone asks you how you are, dont hold back on your truth and honesty. If youre not OK, allow others into your heart and let them open their ears as you talk.... We dont need to "fix" people, we just need to be there to listen and let them be heard.

A community of strong moms. I LOVE creating a safe space for women to come together and workout with their children. The laughter, encouragement and real mom talk is all part of the class! It is hard to meet new mom friends, but if you have 1 thing in common (working out), then it is easier to connect with one another by inviting a mom to go for a walk or a park play date.... This is how we grow stronger and happier communities! Thank you so much moms for showing up to my classes and allowing me to be part of your postnatal rehab journey! My vision of owning my company has come true!

What a great day of home schooling and taking a field trip to @uabotanicgarden . I cant believe I have never been here before! It was so peaceful and relaxing ... just what our day called for! Kids are FREE until Oct 12th! My girls sat by the waterfall and started doing their breathing exercises and mindfulness on their own ... a proud mom moment ... This.Right.Here. My "Why" for home schooling this year.

More classes start this week!! Tuesday 545pm Kids Momentum and Motivation My studio... This is a combination of mindfulness and movement for girls aged 5 to 10. We will talk about our emotions, journal, colour, exercise and end with some relaxation/ breathing exercises. Small class size Wednesday 7pm Outdoor Fitcamp for Women The weather is looking nicer outside mid week! Lets get outside and keep moving our bodies and crushing our wellness goals! Sunday 7pm Sip and Spill Ladies ... this is just for you! Bring your favorite drink to sip on and spill whats on your mind. Explore and be free my girls! Being adventurous with my girls is one of my favorite parts of being a mom. Finding random paths and trails, exploring my a river or lake, climbing a mountain or riding bikes are just some ways we find some cool treasures and explore this beautiful country/ province of ours. I also love being the back of the pack and watching where the girls will lead me and exploring the world through their eyes. You really start to see the true beauty in t...he trees and water that you might have otherwise missed. Slow down and take time in your day to really see the world through your childs eyes!

Breathe and Let Go This summer, I spent way more time exploring and going on adventures with my girls. My husband worked a lot, so it was just me travelling, packing and planning. For the most part, I loved it! I love being a free spirit and explore where my heart desires, and so do my girls. Being outside really does make us feel happier and calmer. ... On the flip side, dealing with 3 kids on my own is hard. The whining, fighting, attitude and long road trips was tiring. I had 2 choices: 1. Never go on a road trip again OR 2. Take a breath, remember my "WHY" and keep exploring. Grounding myself every morning has been key to my sanity this year. Waking up with the sun shining on my face and taking a moment to count my blessings helps me to be more positive in my day. On the days I dont do this routine, I feel more anxious, the girls are more emotional and our day will reflect it all. Lets remember, its the little things in life that will impact our health the most ... so start with a gratitude practice every morning and I guarantee you will feel calmer in your day.

My studio Its been quiet in here the last few months. I miss the laughter from the kids.... I miss the conversations between the moms. I miss the swears and grunts from my personal training clients (some are back in-studio and the swearing might be making up for the rest of my clients ... guess people shouldnt have taken "time-off" during COVID) I miss all of you in my studio. . . . This time in life have taught me to appreciate what I have. It has taught me to slow down in life and enjoy my own kids. It has taught me to re-evaluate what I want to do with my company and what truly makes me happy. So instead of focusing on what I used to have, I am focusing on what is to come. So thank you to everyone for continuing to support me and my business!

Fall Reboot September is a busy month. Back to school... Strong moms and healthy role models I truly believe that in order for my house to run more smoothly, I need to take care of MY health and wellness FIRST. This was a common theme I heard from moms in my classes this summer. They realized when they were confined to their homes at the beginning of COVID19, their overall well-being was going downhill. They had 2 choices: to do nothing about it or to step up and make the choice that their health matters.... I cant thank my clients enough for showing up every day this summer with a positive attitude and showed that they cared about their health. What is even more amazing is that more moms bring their toddlers to class too and they are participating in the workouts and modeling the behavior of their moms Oh my heart and owning this awesome company of mine! Im bringing back my Kids Momentum and Motivation class on Tuesday evenings this fall! The pressures and stress in our fast-paced, highly digital world can rob children of their innate peace and joy. Kids Momentum and Motivation can help counter these pressures and enhance the health and well-being of children. Kids Fit n Fun This outdoor fitness class is for kids aged 6+ who are doing home schooling or online education that need to burn off some of their energy! We will participate in a variety of games and exercises to get our bodies moving and our hearts pumping!... Parents/caregivers are more then welcome to join in or can enjoy their hot cup of coffee as they listen to their podcast in peace for 45 minutes! Classes are taught by a Kinesiologist and a Clinical Exercise Physiologist. COVID19 protocols are in place to ensure everyones safety during class! Limited spots! How you fuel your body is a reflection of your self-love. Providing our body with healthy ingredients not only reduces the risk of some chronic diseases, but may also improve our mental well-being. That being said, we also shouldnt live in an obsessed world of diets, eliminating foods , constantly counting calories and feeling guilty for eating "bad" foods ( because there is no such thing).... Self- love isnt just about eating salads. Enjoying that burger and beer with friends or celebrating your birthday with family and eating a delicious cheesecake is a reflection of self- love too because you are doing something that makes you happy and surrounding yourself with others that brings joy to your heart. We just need to be mindful when we choose to eat a variety of foods and our emotions we are associating to those foods. Always remember HOW you feel and what your body might be telling you after you eat something. For me, my body feels so much better and my mind is more clear when I choose to make a meal that is delicious and full of nutrients! FREEDOM I call this move in my postnatal fitness class the Freedom run/jog/walk. Leave the babies behind with me and go run/jog or walk up the hill . Its amazing after I send my clients on their way, they soon realize and acknowledge how amazing and strong their body really is!... It is time to stop installing fear in postnatal women and how they "should" return to exercise post baby. Every women has their own story. Listen to that story and offer different levels of intensity based on that instead of putting everyone into the same category.

Calmness is ... Sitting on a dock at a lake during sunset. You could have had the busiest day. Your kids could have driven you nuts. You could have been feeling anxious, overwhelmed or frustrated that the day didnt go as planned . ... However your day went, the moment you step onto that dock, see the gorgeous sunset and still waters, you instantly feel calm and more peaceful. Take a moment every night and allow your body to decompress from your day. Acknowledge all your thoughts and feelings you experienced in your day, take a deep breath and count your blessings that you are still here on this earth and able to watch this beautiful sunset.

She would have been 71 years old Happy birthday to my mom today. I have a good cry every time I go home and visit her grave (today my oldest was holding my phone for me while I had my little talk and captured this vulnerable moment of me) The girls also bring grandma flowers every time we visit her and tell her how much they love her and wished that they would have met her.... Oh my
