I know that many of us are struggling right now as we muscle through yet another challenging period of isolation. I would like to invite you to consider joining us this Thursday for our 6-week virtual Mom & Baby class. Over the past year I have witnessed incredible friendships form, and watched as moms and their wee ones found some joy together as they tried out some of North Edmonton and St. Albert's best mom & baby programming. The class runs every Thursday, 11 12:30, May... 27 July 8 and costs $89 + gst. It includes sessions on infant sleep, childcare options, Kindermusik, introducing solids, and more. Our final class will be an outdoor Mommy & Me photo shoot! As a special bonus for this upcoming class only, we’re bringing back our popular swag bags! I know that you may be feeling ‘zoomed out’ but I promise you, these classes will give you a chance to form some real connections. At the start of this year, I had hoped we’d be able to resume in-person classes (outdoors and distanced) around May/June like we did last year. Given the continued restrictions and third wave, we are unable to predict when we’ll be able to resume classes in-person this year. But we still have hope. January and February are notoriously difficult months for many of us, with cold temperatures and long days with little sunlight. This time of year can be even more unsettling for a new mom and now with the pandemic, it’s been made even more challenging. My first child was born at the end of January and the prospect of leaving my house, bundling her up, and driving in winter conditions felt like too much for me. I knew I needed to emerge from my cocoon, as the longer I stayed ...put, the more my anxiety increased. So (almost 9 years ago now) I joined a Mommy Connections class. My daughter was 6 weeks old and I was a mess. We were late for every class. Every single class. Much of it was a daze, but amidst the fog, I found a new confidence in my role as a mother. Being surrounded by a group of women who were indeed experiencing very similar challenges, was a great sense of relief. I could breathe again and I formed my own little village of women from that class who are still a very big part of my life today. We want to invite you to experience one of our Mom & Baby Programs this January. While we cannot meet in-person, we can offer you the same connection in our online program and the opportunity to create your own village.
