Hey everyone! I wanted to pop in to say hello. I hope that you've all been taking care of yourselves out there. ... Who's remembering to add in those hair treatments to your #selfcare routine? I went into the Salon|Studio to pick up a few things and was pleasantly surprised to see how much this bamboo plant was thriving! So I HAD to take a picture and share. I'm not your 'green thumb' kind of friend, which is what made this such a delight to see. Especially since I haven't seen it since we shut down. Look at how tall it is! #lowmaintenanceplantsforthewin An extra special treat was finding that jar next to it that was left behind at Christmas. The words on the jar combined with the growth of the bamboo was like a warm hug. The jar reminded me that although there is so much uncertainty right now with.....well EVERYTHING!, something we can all still hold on to is our dreams. I was encouraged to remember that there is still opportunity for dreams to come true. (Even if we have to walk through a pandemic to experience them or those dreams end up looking totally different than what we thought.) To every (small) business owner out there.... Sending you love and strength as we carry on with navigating through this second lockdown. I hope that you are breathing easy and allowing yourself to continue to dream or to dream AGAIN! As C.S. .... Ran out of time during the day to sit and do my hair treatment, so I put this moisture masque in my hair before bed to give it the treat it deserves....and needs! (It's starting to feel like a brillo pad ) Ever feel confused about all the treatment talk and wonder which one is best for you and your hair? Keep reading ... -for when hair is feeling weak, brittle, and REALLY, REALLY dry. A moisture treatment will lock in moisture, limit frizz, and soften the hair shaft. ? At least three to five minutes is good. But if your hair is in rough shape and dehydrated (and you have some extra time), let it sit for at least 20 minutes. If you're like me and like to multi-task, go ahead and sleep in your mask. It will be like a 2 FOR 1! Repair the hair and rest the body -for when hair is limp, is shedding more than usual, and is lacking its natural curl. A protein treatment will add back strength to the hair shaft and prevent future damage. ? Always follow the directions on the product, but typically 10-20 minutes is enough time to leave this type of treatment on. Overuse of protein treatments can make hair brittle and cause more damage. After rinsing your treatment out, always be sure to finish with a silicone free conditioner. The conditioner is going to be that catalyst that draws water (hydration) back into the hair. Sharing some tips on applying your product to your curls. Things to remember: take your products into the shower with you. direct your roots in the direction you want your hair to fall (use your fingers or a wet brush/wide tooth comb).... do not squish out water before applying product (wavy hair people can get away with taking a bit out). the first place you go with your product is where the highest concentration of product will be. (think about what is in your hand and where it is needed most). after product application gently close hands around curls using towel/t-shirtto remove excess moisture if necessary. whipping hair back will elongate curls; gently rolling will maintain curls. gently shake head when in upright position. diffuse or air dry depending on your time and preference.
