Regional Coordinator Barry MacKenzie has written a retrospective on the Duke of Edinburgh's connections to Atlantic Canada for the Acadiensis blog.
A very happy 95th birthday to our Sovereign Lady, The Queen.
Together with the whole Commonwealth, today we fondly remember the lifetime of service rendered by HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. He is pictured here during his first visit to New Brunswick with the then-Princess Elizabeth in November 1951.

Good News (Part 3 - Final) While the year 2020 has not been an ideal one it is important to find bright spots where you can. One such bright spot is the massive increase in the NB Branch's reach on Facebook with a doubling of page likes in one year. With 2021 behind us and a somewhat more predictable situation on the ground it means it is time to rebuild and redouble our efforts. To that effect, if your membership dues are behind I encourage everyone renew. If you are not a m...ember (and the rapid growth of this page tells me a lot of you are not) please consider signing up for a membership or donating to the cause at the website below: https://store.monarchist.ca/en/products See more

Good News (Part 1) Her Honour, the Honourable Brenda L. Murphy, ONB, Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick has agreed to once again be the patron of the New Brunswick branch of the Monarchist League of Canada. Did You Know... 'God Save the Queen' has a unique Canadian verse that was once commonly sung in Canada. https://youtu.be/d31VjtiUY-g

Former NB League Chairman Barry Mackenzie has written an interesting article on how New Brunswickers have reacted to royal tours in the past. https://acadiensis.wordpress.com//fun-with-flags-and-furn/
This new book, featuring 250 photos and histories of Government Houses across the Commonwealth, may be of interest to some of our members and followers.
Replica of the 1919 Victory Loans flag flying over the old Albert County Courthouse building. The flag is one of the few official examples to bear a royal coat of arms (in this case the Prince of Wales). The Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII) during his 1919 royal tour officially launched the campaign which was a means of paying off remaining war debts. The flag was gifted to the Albert County Museum last year (which owns the courthouse building and the original flag). I have been informed that many visitors ask about the flag and it has proven a good way of talking about this interesting piece of Canadian history.
Continuing the series on royal place names & history: How did New Brunswick get its name and where in the world is 'old' Brunswick? After the American Revolution many Loyalist refugees fled north to remain under the government of king and parliament. A large number settled in what was at the time western Nova Scotia. The distance from the provincial capital of Halifax quickly became a problem and it was decided to split the province in two. But what to name the new province?... Given the loyalty displayed by the refugees a name with a close connection to the king was thought appropriate. The King at the time was George III (pictured) who through a quirk of history was also the Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg in Germany. Land grants at the time would be affixed with a wax seal bearing the king's full title (pictured): "George III by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King, Defender of the Faith, of Brunswick and Lüneburg Duke, of the Holy Roman Empire Arch-Treasurer and Elector" Brunswick is located in central Germany (pictured). Interestingly, King George never set foot in Brunswick (or New Brunswick for that matter). Brunswick, much like New Brunswick, is a mix of hills, forests, farms, towns, and cities (view of Mt. Brocken pictured)
Our Queen is amazing! Always full of surprises :-)
