Let’s talk rest, something that in todays society we find SO difficult to do! First off Fitness and health is not just about hitting the gym. It is about so much more than that, and one of the major aspects is REST. I KNOOOOW, WHAT?! ... When we think about rest, we think that ALL activity has to be stopped but that isn’t so! (However, if you need a day of NOTHING, hell yes do that!!!) Active rest is an act of performing light exercise (walking, cycling, etc.) that stimulates the recovery process without overdoing it. It is a form of rest that we can incorporate into our weekly schedules when our body is too tired for a high intensity workout but we want to be active in the day! Rest is the way our body replenishes our energy resources so that we can perform at the best possible. Our body, both mentally and physically needs rest and limiting our rest can cause greater damage to our bodies than good. Leading to situations such as over training, burnout, and exhaustion. Rest should not be viewed as a punishment, but rather a celebration of all the things our bodies are capable of

Happy New Year to all!! With 2021 here, I wanted to make a post about New Years Resolutions. I know that many, including myself, will set aside goals that we want to achieve in this new year.. however, often the chance for long term success often dwindles by Easter. To help navigate new goals, and increase the chances for long term success, here are a few tips! :) ... 1. Be ready, determine your readiness. Mental and Physical. 2. Create a plan, so that you have a better idea of how and when your will work towards those goals 3. Bring a friend/create a community to help move forward with goals. Having a community, friend, and supportive people is helpful on the most difficult days! 4. Remember to take it easy. think of the resolution as a long time commitment to yourself. 5. Create realistic goals. Think of your goals as if you are building a house, start slow and build the foundation before everything else! Please reach out if you ever need help with your goals!
