A NEW Google-Oracle 2020 BILLBOARD can be seen at the intersection of E.Hastings St. and Hawks St. in Vancouver While we find ourselves in the middle of a third wave and restrictions continue to be in placed Jessica Bushey’s art seems more relevant and timely than ever. The Google-Oracle 2020 series presents a chronological progression of our global experience of COVID-19 through captures of the most popular searches from around the world. Plexiglass and "disposable-mas...k blue" ink recall the prominent artifacts of the period. Jessica Bushey, PhD is currently the Archivist at the North Vancouver Museum & Archives and teaches courses in archives at the University of British Columbia and the University of Victoria. Bushey's artwork has been exhibited in Vancouver, Seattle and Italy. She is a recipient of awards from the Canada Council for the Arts (CCA) and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). #pandemicart #yvrartist#textart#contemporaryart#google#jessicabushey #artwalk#publicart

We are so pleased to share the news that Tiko Kerr's artwork "Grey Area", 2020 which was included in the Live auction benefiting the Audain Museum went for the above estimated value and raised $8000. We are thankful to Tiko's generosity and grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a great cause.

Due to the success of our current exhibition we have extended it until May 1st. While We Wait: Records of Solitude with works by Annie Briard, Jessica Bushey, Sarah Delaney and Kriss Munsya. The works have been produced in the past year while under lockdown during the pandemic, while we are all waiting. Waiting for this pandemic to be over, waiting for borders to reopen, waiting for a vaccine, waiting to see what model or ways of living will manifest themselves once this p...andemic is over. . Each artist is working and exploring a different medium. Annie Briard’s presentation of light boxes showcase her explorations into light and color. Through time the color shifting light boxes present the full spectrum of light investigating parallels of natural and artificial light, time and perception. Sarah Delaney’s work is made of acrylic, graphite on canvasses that are torn and sown together. Her seemingly spontaneous brushstrokes and abstract forms, color and materials reference the landscape of her home British Columbia. This brand new work marks an evolution in her practice. Responding to the pandemic, Jessica Bushey chose to work on plexi glass and with the disposable-mask blue, recalling the most prominent artifacts of this period. Her Google-Oracle 2020 series presents a chronological progression of our global experience through captures of the most popular google searches from around the world. The text-based works on plexi glass plaques are in their size imitating small signage often used for orientation and identification in public buildings speak to the inevitable role of the internet manifested through this pandemic. This time during the pandemic seems to be marked by the meaning of waiting, however political activism and calls for more equality in face of affirmed disadvantages in our societal structure are more pertinent than ever. Kriss Munsya, photographer and film maker, explores race, gender and identity; creating powerful and meticulously composed photographs informed by stories questioning his own identity and memory, childhood trauma and discrimination he was and is confronted with. #contemporaryart #photography #painting #newmediaart

Posted @withregram @anniebriard Here’s a detail view of In Possible Lands #photographyart project on the side of #squarevictoria in #montreal for @artsouterrain opening this week this project has a personal significance to me as it’s produced blending at random with 3 slide projectors photos my father took in his formative years of his trip across the country to work on the rail in the Rockies and my own captures revisiting those locations and the west coast. Coming fu...ll circle from Quebec to BC as my mother is from #campbellriver The #wanderlust I’m feeling over these many months of confinement is intense. Most importantly to me is the exploration of climate change within this series. What appears surreal may not be in a near future. Thanks to @morganlegare and the #artsouterrain team for bringing this project back to my hometown /// voici un aperçu de l’œuvre In Possible Lands installée au square Victoria à #montreal dans le cadre de @artsouterrain - ca me fait grand plaisir de présenter une image de la série qui parle de mon voyage de l’est vers l’ouest, de la rêverie qui définit les road trips et qui me rapproche de mon père comme ces images sont produite en mélangeant ses photos avec les miennes à l’aide de 3 projecteurs à diapos défilant pêle-mêle; une scène surréaliste qui au final ne le sera peut-être plus pour longtemps...
