CALL FOR ARTISTS / Hello! We’re putting together a new artist feature blog series on our website, which will feature local artists of all kinds from some of the best in the city! Each feature will be released every other month, available on our socials, and on our website. We value community and we hope to exemplify this in as many ways as we can. One of those ways is by showing our support for the incredible individuals that we have the honor of sharing this city with.... We’re looking for ceramicists, painters, graphic designers/illustrators, photographers, musicians, florists, architects, etc etc. No work from you is required, other than answering some interview questions and having a few photos of you taken! We’ll be using the photos in social media promo of your feature, as well as on our blog, and you’re welcome to use the photos however you’d like! We’re adding a new toast to our menu today! Another delish contribution by Chef Matthias Fong - the Nut Mylk Hummus Toast! If you’re familiar with our newest food item, Nut Mylk Hummus, we think you’ll love this new toast. If you’re not familiar, we’re making creamy and savoury hummus with the nut pulp we’re left with when we make Nut Mylk! The Hummus Toast has a layer of silky, tangy, slightly smokey Nut Mylk Hummus, which is topped with seasonal + local pickled veggies! We’...ll be switching these up fairly often, to bring you fresh ingredients. The toast is finished off with a generous sprinkling of house made almond dukkah spice mix for some crunch, and fresh dill for a little extra flavour. Its very fresh, and a great savoury addition to our toast menu. If you try it + love it, we also do have jars of Nut Mylk Hummus available in store if you want to try your hand at making one of these toasts at home. Nut Mylk Hummus Toast! FIRST OF THE MONTH DRINK SALES DONATION / This Saturday, August 1st, all of our drinks sales* will be going back to our producer partners in Bolivia. We’ve wanted to return some of coffee’s monetary value back to it’s origin, and got in touch with the Rodriguez Family in Bolivia. Daniela said that none of their producers in the Sol De La Mañana program have proper masks (N95) to protect themselves and others from COVID-19. On Saturday, drinks sales will go towards purchasing ...N95 masks for all of the producers in @agricafebolivia’s Sol De La Mañana program! Masks are $5 USD and we hope to be able to purchase masks for many of the pickers as well - through partnership with the Rodriguez Family. The Sol De La Mañana is Agricafe’s quest to educate local producers by providing training and skills necessary to improve the quality of their farms. The program is designed as a 7 year school program for producers! The producers are guided through every step of coffee farming, starting with the nursery, planting, harvesting, pest prevention, pruning as well as financial management. The goal of the program is to help producers grow better quality and quantity from their farms, so they can provide a much better life for their families long term. Our dear friend, Luis Choquehuanca, is part of this program, and is a true testament to the success of the program - his coffees have been amazing, and continue to be even better year after year.
