If I'm honest it has been difficult to find the words during this time. MONOXIDE as a business has been quiet since the beginning of the year as I chose to take a step back and get perspective on the next steps for my brand. We continued the pause during COVID, however, in light of everything that's been happening silence is no longer an option. I can't pretend to know what the best next steps or actions we as black people need to take; all I know is that something must chang...e and I will do everything in my power to affect change in my space. My business has provided me opportunities over the years to enter spaces that were traditionally closed to POC. I'd gotten so used to the subtle stares and blatant surprise that I was honestly no longer fazed. But being resigned to something like that doesn't change it. I don't want to wake up to a world where black people can be killed just by leaving their homes and I'm tired of being the surprise pop of colour in certain spaces. Black Lives Matter. This issue is not just something happening in the US it is everywhere. However, there are people in need right now and I want to help in any way possible. My colleagues and I at Rosewood Assembly (@rswdassembly) @andieco.candles @asililivingco @meripetiofficial have decided that we will be sharing a percentage of our sales to @yourrightscamp. To help contribute to bail funds for protesters who are fighting daily for justice for George Floyd's murder and all others who have succumbed to the same systematic racism and police brutality.
